Tacos, tapas, mixologist cocktails and —of course— authentically-prepared barbacoa in the heart of Virginia-Highlands, Atlanta. An eclectic-chic, Spanish vibe accented with warm copper and rich textiles, mood lighting and local artwork plus a comfortable covered patio make bar.bacoa the perfect date night, girl’s night, celebratory night, or post-work happy hour spot.

Edited: I went back and had a drink and a taco at the bar with David and it was great!

Nice looking place and loved the porch. Taco Tuesday is a good deal!
I would not recommend the goat fritters, tasted like pimento, jelly had no flavor or spice, overall it was nothing special – especially for the price.
The tacos were good!
My server just completely forgot to put in our tacos and then wasn’t around for a long time. So, we were ready to leave when we finally got our tacos.

Food, drinks, and service were phenomenal!! Thalius (hope I spelled that right!) was amazing! So attentive, personable, and made excellent drinks! The food was delicious! We got Brussel sprouts, skillet queso (omg!), trailer park taco, chicken quesadilla, and key lime pie. It was all excellent! Highly recommend!

Had an absolutely delightful time here tonight. It is an absolutely fabulous restaurant with some of the best staff and of course, food around the town.
From making the reservation, to arriving and being seated, to the service and the food, our server, Samantha made us feel totally at home and very welcome. It is hard to come across such friendly and pleasant servers. It added to the deliciousness of the already delicious food.
We were really impressed with their wide tapas range and of course their tacos options.
They have a nice patio and a galley for outdoor seating. There is adequate free parking around as well.
Highly highly recommended.

I was very surprised, this was so very good and I look forward to going again! I had the Chile bbq salmon….so delicious! My friends has a variety of the tacos, and they were all very good. I also had the apple crisp which was pretty good (not as good as the main menu food) but still a nice ending to my meal.
The portions are a little small, but that’s it, everything else was perfection. Highly recommend. Make sure to make a reservation

Great service and food.
The inside is trendy. The outside has that nice VaHi deck. There’s space between tables, which adds to the experience.
The service was quick and attentive. They’re also cute, which is always nice. Three different folks visited my table for various things in the first few minutes. I was joking with the waitress that my old-fashioned usually comes with a cherry and twist but I respected their cocktail artistry. She promptly brought out a cherry and twist for me. Every smidge of service was prompt, friendly and I wanted for nothing.
The chips were unusually flaky. They are not at all like to come in corn chip and quite tasty.
In a world where tacos can be a blur, each of them was distinctive and tasty. I particularly liked the Korean taco. Also, the street corn was really tasty. If they had served a gallon of it, I probably would’ve eaten it.
It’s a little loud, but that’s just me being picky. It has that busy vibe. This was an experience worth repeating.

I was so heartbroken when my favorite happy hour spot, Bulla Gastrobar, closed down unexpectedly two weeks ago. My friend and I were regulars there for over 4 years. I did not think I could find a place to replace it. But man oh man, Bar.bacoa proved me wrong! Everything about this place is wonderful. The food is fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. And the service is incredible. Our server Shalon was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. She made great recommendations and just had an overall awesome vibe. We went on Tuesday so they have half off tacos, but we also had the carne asada (melts in your mouth), Spanish potatoes (yum!), cauliflower steak (real steak wants nothing on this one!), and a tuna taco (a party full of freshness). I got shrimp, bar.bacoa and salmon tacos to go. I ate them the next day and they were still so delicious and fresh. My one regret is that I didn’t get more tacos to go because I’ve been thinking about them all week. Needless to say, I’ll be back there this Tuesday for more lol. Also the morning after, I got an email for Delta Skymiles letting me know that I earned 3 points per $1 for dining there, which was such a nice surprise! Thank you Bar.bacoa for making my first visit a memorable one. I think I found my new spot!

The food is excellent! I have tried most everything on the menu, and I recommend it all. The drinks are great too! A lot of thought went into the creation of their cocktail menu. The staff, the ownership, are a great group of people. I go at least 1-2 times a week.

Small but very busy place, we had a reservation so we were seated right away. The food is amazing. Everything is so fresh. The guacamole was delicious, seasoned well. The potatoes were crispy on outside and tender on the inside. The tacos were good as well. The drinks were not my favorite…too strong for my taste. You could not taste the juice at all…ordered the mango and the pineapple drinks. We had to ask for a “shot” of pineapple to add to the drink lol…

Liked the beef barbacoa and the trailer park tacos. The beef barbacoa tacos are a bit messy where the shell was super soaked and ripping, but they give you a very generous amount of beef. The trailer park tacos were also good.
