Consistent. I’ve been here a couple of times and it delivers every visit. The chicken Parmesan is solid, the food overall is really well done, and the atmosphere is inviting. It can get a little loud, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. A place worth returning to.

My wife and have been here many times over the years, but it has been over a year since our last visit. It was a busy night with dining out on the street, but dined inside downstairs. We ordered a cosmo and Angels Envy Old Fashioned to start. The drinks were great but I got a surprise with the bill. A standard old fashioned on the menu calls for Old Granddad and is $28. A shot of Angels Envy on the menu is $17 but when you ask for Angels Envy in an old fashioned…apparently it is $46! Most nice restaursnts charge a mixer fee and then upcharge according to the level spirit you choose. I guess I paid $28 for ice, simple syrup a cherry and bitters.
The entrees were average IMO. We then ordered beignets for dessert…we waited almost 30 minutes for the dessert to arrive. Our server walked past the table numerous times. I am not sure if it was a kitche issue or the dessert was not entered in a timely fashion but this was awkward because we had no water or cocktails for 30 minutes. When dessert arrived the beignets had almost zero sugar on them which is a staple of beignets and the inside was doughy like is was not fried long enough. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area, so I will not be rushing back to Avalon.

I should’ve written this review a long time ago. Every visit to this restaurant has been nothing short of perfectly satisfying and delicious. Fairly priced as well. Tonight I tried their Nicoise salad. I asked for an accommodation to have less potato and add some greens. They always happily accommodate. They served the dressing on the side as if they were reading my mail and I’m OK with it! I almost asked if they sell it in bottles. It was the sesame ginger. Soo good. No skimping on the protein in the salad. The tuna was as fresh as it could be. Sliced, ruby-red, and delicious. I’m a fan of their smoked Manhattan, which my husband got tonight along with the cheesesteak eggrolls that he orders each time. I’ve also had fun ordering different appetizers as if I was at a tapas bar and they too were scrumptious. The dates, the crispy eggplant, I could go on… It’s nice to go to a restaurant in the neighborhood that has a bistro-city feel, Not pretentious. reliable, consistent food, and where they recognize you after dining there once. Highly recommend!

Bar Avalon always delivers! The food, service, and ambiance are consistently amazing. We tried the wine and dinner pairing for the first time last night and were blown away—perfectly matched courses and a knowledgeable waitress made it a standout experience. A perfect date night. Limited wine by glass selection but what we had was lovely, The salmon entree was one of the best entrée s I have ever had. With lemon and capers with dill, fingerling potatoes and haricoverts it was memorable, beat salad and burada was also very good. Chocolate moose tuxedo bomb was also surprisingly good with a sour cherry drizzle. I will be going back soon

We called ahead and reserved a table outside on a Friday summer night when WC closes Gay St. The vibe was amazing!!
Food was delicious too with crispy calamari, light gazpacho, and Judy Foodie’s Short Rib Pasta Special. The pasta could use a touch of something to lighten it up as it can be rather heavy. Portion sizes are huge so be prepared for leftovers!
Over server was hustling and did a great job looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed for a good experience.

This place is honestly ridiculously great.
We stopped in for Sunday brunch, and we were not disappointed. Our server was great, and the food was excellent. My daughter got an Alfredo dish, and it was the best I’ve ever tasted. The truffle fries are on point. And the Judy on the bunch menu- just take my money.
Looking forward to coming back.

We stopped in on a Friday early evening during restaurant week in February. The bar area right inside the door was pretty full. We had a reservation and were seated in the dining room. Our server was friendly, attentive and quick. We had some cocktails and they were very good. The menu looked fantastic. Our meal was fantastic. We shared the bacon wrapped dates for an app and the tomato, spinach and burrata pasta – we added shrimp. Both were delicious but the dessert stole the show. Flourless chocolate torte – melt in your mouth chocolatey paradise. I almost licked the plate. Parking was on the street. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Bathrooms were clean and fresh. I would absolutely come here again when in the area.

My partner and I are huge fans of Bar Avalon! Their happy hour is amazing and the food is unmatched in town. The entire staff is amazing and the owner is so so friendly!!! We have had Rachelle as our waitress a few times and she is the sweetest! We recommend Avalon to everyone coming through West Chester. The mussel bakes and pasta dishes are always out of this world
