Plating is fine-dining level, and the Suzhou-style garden vibe is gorgeous.

Tried the new spot Bao Z Dumpling & Noodle Bistro at Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights and it was a really nice surprise.
The interior looks modern and clean, so I expected higher prices, but most dishes are under $10 or in the low $10 range. We ordered a full table and the total was very reasonable.
The menu isn’t just soup buns — they also offer chili oil wontons, mixed noodles, seafood congee, and desserts, so there’s a good variety.
The chili oil wontons look very spicy, but they’re actually more fragrant than hot. The portion is huge for $7.99, and each wonton has a whole shrimp inside, which makes it very filling.
The braised pork belly was tender and well-balanced, with soft layers of fat and meat without being overly mushy.
The seafood congee comes in a very large portion, easily enough for 2–3 people to share. The seafood tasted fresh and bouncy, not starchy.
Desserts like the pudding and mochi were surprisingly good — definitely dessert-shop quality.
Service was excellent. The staff were very polite and gentle, easily some of the best service I’ve had at a Chinese restaurant in the LA area.
Overall, a great place for a lighter, comforting meal.
Average price is around $10-25per person.
The Thai basil pork rice was a surprise favorite. Fragrant, mildly spicy, and slightly sweet, with perfectly cooked rice. The seafood rice porridge was very generous and tasted fresh, reminding me of homemade comfort food. We also tried two kinds of xiao long bao. The Wagyu buns were flavorful without being greasy, and the shrimp and black pork ones were good, though I wish they had a bit more soup.
The cold dishes were refreshing, especially the lotus root with pig ear, which was crunchy and well seasoned. Drinks were solid too. Friendly service overall. Definitely worth trying if you’re at Diamond Plaza.
We also ordered a mix of baos, noodles, and rice bowls, and everything came out hot and well prepared. The spicy minced pork dishes had great aroma and just the right amount of heat, and the noodles were springy and not overcooked. Nothing felt overly oily or heavy, which made it easy to keep eating.
The dining room is bright, modern, and very comfortable, and the whole place feels thoughtfully designed. Staff was polite and helpful, and food arrived quickly even though it was busy.
It’s always exciting to find a new restaurant that gets the basics right. If you like soup dumplings and comforting Chinese food, this place is definitely worth a visit.
We also ordered a few noodle and rice dishes, including the spicy basil minced pork rice and spicy dry noodles, and they were all very satisfying and well balanced. Not overly greasy or salty, just really comforting and well seasoned.
The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and comfortable, making it a great place for both casual meals and small group dinners. Service was friendly and efficient, and food came out at a good pace.
Overall, Bao Z is a great new spot for dumplings, noodles, and classic Chinese comfort food. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.
Food was amazing across the board. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and comforting in the best way. My favorites are the shengzhou wagyu bao zi, the pork xlb and shanghai soup wontons. Appetizers were on point, definitely order the trio tasting and the dishes came out looking as good as they tasted.
Overall just great vibes, great food, and a spot I’d happily come back to again and again.
