I loved the chicken wings so much last time that I came back today to try more dishes, and I’m glad I did.
From the first bite, it was clear that this place isn’t just a passion project; you can really taste the chef’s genuine skill and the years of experience behind the food!
The Guo Bao Pork was the highlight. It’s hard to find a truly great version in Baltimore, but this one was excellent– crispy, flavorful, and not soggy at all, even by the last bite.
The chicken wing sauce was well-balanced and not too heavy, and it kept making me want to mix it with rice.
The seasoning on the clam dish was also spot-on and I ended up finishing all the rice.
We ordered the sugar donut toward the end, and I highly recommend eating it as soon as it comes out. I always try sugar donuts when a place offers them, and this one tasted light and fresh, like it was fried in really clean oil.
Our server was incredibly warm and attentive, and after chatting briefly with the owner, Eric, it all made sense why the food is so good. This is a place run by people who have truly spent their lives cooking, and that level of care really shows. These are dishes you just can’t recreate at home, which is why I’ll happily keep coming back.

We had an amazing experience at Bao Di! The food was delicious. I ordered an eggplant dish that was perfection, and my husband loved the general tsos. You could tell the ingredients were very fresh.
We also had a large group, including toddlers, and the restaurant was really accommodating for our party. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back already!

Absolutely blown away by the flavors and authenticity at this new spot! The Bao Di wings were perfectly crispy with a rich, savory glaze. The Shanghai noodles were silky and packed with umami, and the Mongolian beef was tender, flavorful, and generously portioned.
But the real surprise? The sugar donuts — light, fluffy, and addictively good. You must get them, even if you’re full. Trust me.
Service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance strikes a great balance between cozy and elegant. Already planning my next visit!

Just got back from Bao Di and it was amazing! I had the double cooked pork and pork egg rolls. The food was fresh and the sauces are made in house. You can tell they put love into their food. I met the owner and he shared his wife and his in-laws came here from China. He opened the restaurant because he missed the home cooked meals his father in law made and now he is the head chef! I’ll definitely be going back with people so we can order a bunch of items. I want to try EVERYTHING!

Amazing food. Really authentic, with an experienced Chinese culinary chef making flavorful dishes in a laid back but elevated atmosphere. The rice is amazing! The wings (not pictured) is so nice because it has such a unique preparation, not just fried wings in a sauce.

The rice is soooo good! Definitely going back to try other things.

Finally, excellent Chinese food in Baltimore City!!! I grew up eating lots of Chinese food (mostly Cantonese), so I’m very picky with this type of cuisine, and I can confidently say Bao Di is authentic and delicious! It’s clear this restaurant is a labor of love — the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, and her father is the chef! (Her husband is also the bartender.) We went on opening night and were blown away by the food. We ordered the guo bao pork (deep-fried pork with a perfect sweet-sour sauce — not too sweet and more on the tangy side), zhajiangmian (noodles with pork and soybean sauce — ask for the vinegar and Bao Di’s homemade chili paste to mix in!), and a very refreshing cucumber salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! I also appreciated that portions were generous, and rice comes free with the main non-noodle dishes. Our food came quickly, and service was friendly and efficient.

I enjoyed the food so much that I ordered takeout four days later! I had no problem calling on the phone and placing my order. The chef waited until I showed up for my order to finish cooking the dishes, which was great because this food is meant to be eaten when it’s straight off the pan — and I only had to wait about 5 minutes. This time, I got the spicy pepper stir fry tofu, which includes dried tofu sheets (so hard to find this on menus that cater just to those unfamiliar with authentic Chinese food!), and the walnut shrimp. Again, both dishes were delicious.

I can’t wait to try the whole menu! (And note: the authentic dishes are pretty friendly to unfamiliar palates anyway, but they do have an Americanized Chinese food menu for the less adventurous.) Please support this local father-daughter-run business — it’s such a sweet story, and the food will blow you away!

The atmosphere in the restaurant is great and is only made better by the food! We had a superb, authentic meal with incredible cocktails (try the Kentucky kiss!) all while watching the Olympics at the bar. Truly an amazing experience!

It’s awesome to have a local, family owned and high quality Chinese restaurant in Highlandtown. Popped in this evening for a quick to go order and couldn’t have been more pleased with the service, atmosphere, and of course, the food! Cheers and can’t wait to come back!

We ordered a $27 Sauerkraut with Rib and received only three ribs. The portion size is extremely small for the price and not worth it at all.

The flavor was just average and not authentic Chinese food. If you’re looking for a genuine Chinese dining experience, this is not the place.

The food was awesome, we loved how there was a variety of traditional Chinese dishes and more American-Chinese dishes. The cream cheese wontons and hot and sour soup were amazing. The service was also efficient and the staff was very nice. We can’t wait to come back and try the rest of their menu!
