I’ve been waiting to go here for a long time. It was good. We had fried rice, chicken, as well as a crispy original sandwich and fries from the Studebaker menu. Zero complaints with the sandwich. They were out of fish, and the kid wanted fish and chips really bad. But the chicken burger was amazing, so he was happy.
The teriyaki chicken and fried rice were very flavorful. But, the chicken was swimming in oil and it was super fatty, the teriyaki sauce a bit salty, the rice was good but seemed like it might have been a little over cooked. Over all it had excellent flavor and was very delicious, but there’s room for improvement.

Addtn: 7/2022 (after loss of head chef.) We enjoyed our lunch on Studebaker Alley patio with our pup! Wonderful venue! They are still working out service but we had a good lunch. Edit: 6/2022 tried to dine inside half an hour before closing on a Saturday and they closed the kitchen early. We tried… 05/2022 came for take out with our pup in tow. They are open for dine in as well. Our food was delicious. Yet another to add to our local regular stop list. We ordered two combo plates. I received enough to have a second meal. My husband finished his. Well seasoned and charred to perfection. We will have to come back and dine in to try out the cocktails… Thank you for opening your restaurant in Cle Elum it fills a niche of food we were missing. We hope Studebaker alley and your rooftop are open soon.

Got there at about 8pm and the place was half filled. Took a good amount of time for the food to come out, and both my teriyaki chicken and my husband’s shrimp in his noodles were super burnt on one side. The parts that were edible were subpar at best. When the waitress came by to ask how the food was, we told her both our dishes were pretty burnt, she laughed like we told a joke and just walked away…the nice part is that the place is well lit and looks clean. Might be a nice place for drinks, definitely not food.

The food here was pretty dang good. We stopped by to have lunch on our way to a show at the Gorge Amphitheatre and we were pleasantly surprised. You can choose to order from either restaurant at any kiosk and then get self seated. We chose to sit on the spacious and lovely patio. We split food and had more than enough to get us for that the staff is very lovely.

We got there around 630 and they sent staff home so our service was a bit slow as they had about half their seats filled. The food was on par with your average teriyaki place. I ended up paying about $60 for two people to get combos and one shot of sake. Seemed a bit high priced compared to some of the other places I go for teriyaki. The food tasted pretty good but for the hype that was made for them coming into cle ellum I was a bit disappointed at the lack luster performance all around. I’d go back but it won’t be very often.

Portion sizes are amazing I get 2 meals out of my single plate of teriyaki. Flavors are a masterpiece not many could perfect, most teriyaki sauce taste like soy sauce but not here. The fact this place doesn’t have a 5 star review from everyone is sad, most people have never even ate there or tried to talk to the employees. The employees go above and beyond, caring more about the business and it’s success rather than looking at an algorithm that tells them what to do. They remember your name and depending on how often you order they’ll even remember your order by heart. I couldn’t ask for a better staff to server me my Yaki when I am hungry.

A more special plate of teriyaki I have had not. And I eat a lot of teriyaki!
This isn’t stripmall-styrofoam-tray teriyaki, this is chicken with a perfect flame broil and a rich teriyaki sauce. Fried rice was spot on the mark. All done simple, made right.
As a local, stoked I can get it here anytime in beautiful Cle Elum! For visiting friends, Bonzai also has great bar space with local brews on tap, and tons of great Japanese whiskey. How awesome!
Only made a quick dash of it this time, and food came quick. Or you can mix and match plates and apps as you sample beers and relax.
Great atmosphere too with a good vibe. Enjoy!

My wife ordered Spicy Chicken Teriyaki with white rice to go for me. I think she said it cost $14—I ended up getting what can only explained as a truck stop/choke & puke meal in a plastic container that was what you would expect to find a $1.99 biscuit’s and gravy meal at the forementioned choke & puke packaged in. In other words: it was small. Not a meal by any means.
No spice on the spicy chicken. Slimy skin on the chicken making the texture something hard to swallow. Very small amount of rice.
I try to give every place a 2nd chance… but I will have to wait a while on this place before I try it again in hopes they improve.

First time customer. I have been wanting to eat here since it came to Cle Elum 4 months ago, on 2-16-2022.
When ordering, the server informed me they were out of chicken and shrimp so I opted for a plain fried rice. 44 minutes later I received the picture shown. Oil saturated fried rice with burned veggies and eggs. Basically inedible. They looked at me like I was crazy, so I left and will never be back.
Update:
I was refunded

Decent meal. Way over priced. Now 2 weeks later I see they charged my card for even more than the already expensive meal. $14 for basic Teriyaki, $14 for a side of 5!! gyoza, I thought I was in for $32after $4 tip for a single meal. BUT I guess they are cooking extra tips. I see my card is charged at $59.16 for a single meal?!? Avoid this place!!
