Long review…..
We ate here on 11.2.23 ordered the combination meal C for 3. This included Beef & Broccoli, Lemon Chicken, Ham Fried Rice, Jumbo Shrimp, Egg Rolls & Egg Drop Soup.
I also ordered a tempura shrimp sushi. It was in a section of the sushi menu called hand rolls. As many people who eat sushi know California rolls, tempura rolls and similar are generally a few dollars less and based on the ingredients of the 4 rolls in this category and pricing I thought that’s what these sushi rolls were (I would learn quickly how wrong I was).
We started with egg drop soup. It was your average egg drop soup and ok.
Then came jumbo shrimp and egg rolls.
One bite of my fried jumbo shrimp to realize it had not been cleaned. Stuck my fork down the side of the shrimp to verify and and the big long black trail….ugghhh gross. Not just one shrimp either. Obviously none of us wanted any more shrimp.
Egg rolls were fried and crispy on he outside and everything was mushy inside.
Well maybe better luck with ham fried rice. It was a weird yellow color but I tried to justify it. It was bland and the after-taste was terrible I wanted to scrape my tongue. I thought maybe it was me so I waited to see the others reactions. It didn’t take long for their faces to reflect what I had just experienced.
It had to get better right? My nephew had a bone in one of his pieces of lemon chicken (pictured). We asked for extra lemon sauce and carefully ate the chicken. The extra lemon sauce kinda of helped with the dry chicken.
The beef and broccoli was actually pretty good so I do have to give some credit there which, is why 2 stars (and the egg drop soup).
BUT somewhere in the middle of the craziness my sushi came wrapped like and ice cream cone???? And not sliced. I have never in 20 years of eating sushi seen anything like this. I had no knife to cut it. The eel sauce was squirted on the end like hot fudge on an ice cream cone. So finally after no knife, no idea how to eat this. I just scooped away some of the eel sauce tried to re-roll tightly (causing it to split) picked it up in 1 hand, held tight and dipped in soy sauce. What a nightmare.
The waitress wasn’t around because they were short staffed (need to give some grace here she didn’t make the food) she was running around like crazy. I wasn’t going to complain, our waitress was already running around to multiple tables & by the time they made something new or tried we would be late to our appointment.
If by some miracle we go back and things are different I will update my review but it would take an awful lot of arm twisting to get me to go back.
Ordered 3 Sweet Sour Chicken meals = OVER COOKED (very crunchy and stale) and COLD!
Jumbo Shrimp = OVER COOKED (very crunchy and stale)
Lettuce wrap appetizer was the only item that we ordered which seemed fresh. Otherwise an okay experience.
Recently returned and the sushi rolls are no longer half off and the (must be) new chef is terrible. Our edamame was totally coated with salt and my chow fun was burned. My friend said her food was edible but not excellent.
