Bantam King is our go-to halal Asian spot, mostly Japanese, and it never disappoints. Their curry snow fried chicken is hands down the best chicken you can have — crispy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. The spicy miso ramen is equally amazing, packed with rich, bold flavors that hit perfectly every time. The buttered rice is also a comforting favorite.
It’s a cozy little place tucked in the corner of Chinatown, D.C., and we love coming here every other weekend. The food is always fulfilling, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Bantam King is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese flavors in a casual, comfortable setting.

Food
The food wasn’t extraordinary. The spicy miso, wasnt spicy unfortunately. The portions of pulled chicken in the ramen was also quite small compared to other places. Portion size was fair.
Service.
Service was good. Wait time wasn’t too bad, and the staff were fairly helpful.
Atmosphere.
Great atmosphere though. Very cozy, and the music was pretty good. Nice decor , although sitting face to face with other customers may be a lil uncomfortable for some people. The seating is ideal for couples and parties familiar with each other.

We stopped by Bantam King after a morning at the National Building Museum. The spicy miso ramen was perfect for a really cold day. The broth was absolutely delicious. We also had the Curry Snow Fried Chicken and that was a winner. The service was attentive and friendly.

Portion size is good. The miso ramen was good but I was expecting a little more flavor. The soft boiled egg was delicious surprisingly had an upcharge. This is normally included in a ramen bowl. . The gyoza was delicious. Restaurant has a good amount of seating and a the bathrooms were clean with hot water!

Always good stop when you need fried chicken and hot ramen.
All dishes are chicken or veggies.
Although I prefer my ramen with pork I love this place and always coming back for more miso broth.
Fried chicken as appetizer is a fight at the table every time.
I guess next time we need to get more instead of sharing 🙂
Bring your appetite!

The veggie tantanmen is one of the best in the city- no doubt! It definitely gets really busy during peak dinner hours/can take some time- so plan ahead! The servers were super nice!

Delicious ramen and fried chicken! Was a perfect spot during a snowstorm to warm up and fill our tummies. Loved that the chicken was halal and super tasty. Highly recommend.

Came here to meet up with some friends, and because of religion and diet restrictions, they chose this restaurant because it’s halal. Being one of the few times actually having halal prepared food I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken definitely tasted much cleaner and better. You dont taste the iron or anything else from the chicken. Very clean tasting. The only meat option was chicken. They also sell fried chicken along with Ramen. The options are limited at this place so do not expect a very big menu. Now, on to the Ramen portion. I have a very, very strict rating scale. I take every thing into consideration. I give the Ramen a fair 5/10. Its very average. Not blow your mind by the depth of flavor or the intensity. I got the spicy miso Ramen and it was slightly spicy. Not enough to make you take a sip of water or anything crazy. I wish they had options on the table itself for you to enhance or add to your Ramen. Not sure if it’s something you ask and they bring out but it wasn’t mentioned or brought up. The Ramen didn’t have much in it besides the chicken, corn and some other stuff. If more stuff was already added and included it would justify the 20$ price for a bowl of Ramen. I would have been happy paying 15$ for the bowl i had received. Having to pay extra for things that should’ve been in the bowl was a bit crazy. The vibe was good. Be warned. This location is in the heart of Chinatown and it took me well over an hour just to find parking. Paying obscene prices for parking lots or garages around the area is not it.

This was a fun little find while I was in the downtown area for work! The ramen was really good and perfect on a cold day. The portion size was large too so it justified the price for me. I can’t wait to come back and try the fried chicken.
