Banh Mi QB is a proper authentic spot in Reading. Honestly, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited! The food is consistently delicious, and it never disappoints.

The vibe is always buzzing, and the staff are super attentive and friendly.

Here are my staples that I order on repeat:
• Vegan Wok Fried Pho with Tofu: True to its name, this dish arrived piping hot and full of ‘wok hei’ (breath of the wok). The tofu is a real highlight, and the portion size is perfect for one. Pro tip: Add a dollop of their chilli paste—it absolutely elevates the flavours!

• Veggie Vietnamese Spring Rolls: I highly recommend this starter. They use authentic Vietnamese rice paper, which gives a texture that is completely different from standard spring rolls. The wrapper is wafer-thin and shatteringly crisp. I absolutely love them.

In short, Banh Mi QB has basically become my canteen in Reading. If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine, look no further!

The decor is poor, the restaurant is quite sad and without climate, but the food is delicious! Please do not suggest that the restaurant seems undecorated and colorful, the main thing is that the dishes are tasty and look colorful – very happy!

This was an unplanned treat which did not disappoint.

I usually like a pho in a Vietnamese restaurant but what with it being 32c outside, a hot soup was not going to pass my lips! Crispy spring rolls and egg fried rice with beef was just right. In fact it was such a generous portion, I had to ask to take what I couldn’t eat home and I was kindly given a takeaway container. I will definitely going back for a pho another time though.

Lovely decor, atmosphere and good service: everything you need in a restaurant as the background to delicious food.

Been here many times but today everything was especially outstanding – the pho stock was truly well done. The depth of flavour and presentation and generous prawns.
Crispy Pork with Broken Rice and Spring Rolls/Grilled Pork on Noodles — all so delicious. With all the dips and sauces to accompany the meals, I am reminded why I would always choose a Southeast Asian meal — will never tire of it. Very welcoming service as always too.

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Reading.
From the atmosphere itself and the interior, it was pleasing to the eyes.

The staff were lovely, and aside from that, the food was excellent. One food that stands out to me is salt and pepper tofu, I’ve been a fan of tofu, and this one was by far the best!! I loved it, the texture was crispy from the outside and tasty, and the inside was soft but firm! still with taste! We also ordered their pho brisket beef which was also lovely! The portion size was enough. Lastly, the Pho Wok Seafood was also excellent. The noodle texture and the seafood were the right balance. Some work has only a little seafood mixture but this one was abundant and I liked it. Recommended

Yesterday visited this restaurant around 8:30pm and ordered a beef soup noodle and pork fried rice. As I took my first bite of the noodles, I noticed a thick, black hair tangled in it. At first, I thought it might be a head hair, but upon pulling it out, it clearly looked like something far more disturbing (I’ll leave that to your imagination).

I immediately called over the waitress (a young woman with glasses — the only staff member visible at the time). Her response? She wasn’t sure if it was my hair or an employee’s, but insisted all their staff wear hats. I pointed out that it didn’t resemble a regular hair at all — definitely not mine (I have long, light brown hair). She took a photo and said she’d check with the manager, but no manager ever came out to speak with us.

I told her to take the dish away — I had completely lost my appetite. Before this, my partner had already noticed his pork fried rice looked stale , pre-prepared— the rice was hard and clumpy, hot from earlier in the day. The waitress offered to replace it. Yes, just rice, but we didn’t eat at all.

We ended up paying for the pork fried rice and a drink, even though both dishes had serious issues. In hindsight, we should have refused to pay at all.

such matters worse, they still charged us a service fee. When I questioned whether she thought the service warranted it, she coldly said they could offer us a discount next time. Safe to say — there won’t be a next time.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.
