Relaxed, narrow restaurant offering Vietnamese cuisine & sandwiches, plus a take-out option.

Not to be dramatic but Banh is so so so good. Genuinely everything I’ve tried on the menu has been really incredible and the flavors are executed so well and with so much depth. In particular I really really recommend the Com Tam (Special Combination broken rice) as well as the BBQ Pork Banh Mi (it is genuinely delightfully smoky). Truly a delicious restaurant and well worth the wait each time.

One of the best pho and bahn mi spots in the city. Don’t take reservation must get there early else wait on the plastic stools outside. Lots of rarer app items not regularly found in the city. Second location after original one far north in Fordham Bronx, now a thrid in east village. Gotta admit I’m bit biased living nearby and occassionally pickup something on the way home.

Fresh hearty and homemade. Fast service. Generous portions for the price. Really love the pork combo plate, especially the pork and the mushroom quiche. They have amazing spicy chili paste on the side. I also love their rice—round grained, unlike the generic rice you get at Asian restaurants.
Their fried fish noodle soup is amazing!! I love the fish cakes in the soup and the fresh dill. Their vegetable curry is also fantastic, so hearty and well-balanced (neither too salty nor too sweet, just perfect).
If you come at peak hours there can be a wait of up to half an hour. They do takeout.

Visited Bánh at 942 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10025, and it was an absolute delight! The moment I walked in, the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread and savory fillings filled the air. I ordered the classic Bánh Mì, and it was a symphony of flavors. The baguette was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft within, while the combination of tender meat, pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs was simply outstanding. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Bánh to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Vietnamese sandwich in New York!

Too much carbs for each dish for our preference but the pho soup was delicious, the fried spring rolls were good too.

this was the perfect meal after playing volleyball for 2 hours in 90 degree weather. the restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. menu highlights: the OG banh mi (one of the best bites of the night), crispy mung bean rice, and the honey lime iced tea (so refreshing and not too sweet.

I’ve heard good things about Banh so I was looking forward to giving it a try (once I finally had some time to make the trek up to this part of the UWS haha). We got there around 6pm on a weekday, and there were still plenty of seats for our party of two — it definitely filled up quickly though, and there was a queue by the time we left.
To start, we ordered the Xoi Xeo to share. I liked the aromatic flavour of the sticky rice, and it paired nicely with the pork floss and fried shallots. But, I think it got too heavy quickly (the sticky rice weighs it down a lot), and I honestly started feeling a bit full before our main dishes had even arrived (!)
We also tried the Pho Dac Biet (the “classic” pho option) which was a great option. The broth was so rich without being heavy/oily, and the sliced beef was yummy.
The Com Tam (special combination broken rice) was my favourite dish. The pork chop was so tender and flavourful, and I really liked the complex flavour of the slice of meatloaf, which had different veggies and noodles as filling.
I also got the milo iced milk chocolate drinks, which was lovely — hard to find places in the US that sell milo drinks so I have to order it whenever I have the chance.
Overall a very solid meal at a fairly reasonable price. Portion sizes were definitely big across the board, and we had a considerable amount leftovers for another meal at home. If not for the somewhat out-of-the-way location, I’d come here more often 🙂

I ordered take out for my friend and myself and after reading so many raving reviews I really had high standards and was really craving it. I am very happy to confirm how delvious the pho was. The flavors were delicate yet complex, fresh and you can taste all the time and effort to make the broth it took to make. The beef had a nice taste and excellent texture and freshness. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the balance of the finishing ingredients was just right.
The presentation and the thought of preserving the authenticity to enjoy at home was well executed as well.
I will definitely be coming back. And recommending this restaurant to everyone.
I did not take pictures because I was tol excited and just enjoyed this amazing meal.

I’M BACK WRITING REVIEWS. I know, you’ve missed me. To be honest, I just haven’t been out the house to any new restaurants recently. But after a day at Riverside Park, I was really craving some Viet. This spot I went to many years ago, and I’m finally back to write a proper review. The taro omelette was really unique very hearty and I loved the potato strips on top. I got the combo plate and OH MY GOD that pork belly was to die for. A shame that I dropped a big piece on the ground, that’s fine though. Life goes on. If there’s one thing that I want to take away from these last few weeks, there is always something to look forward to. Life happens, but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. We can move forward with an open heart and mind. Keep it up!

I can’t say enough about this place. It was so wonderful. Everything about the experience was great. The server was so sweet and kind (I didn’t catch her name) made lots of recommendations and was super honest; she let us know when she didn’t try dishes or drinks and she let us know what her favorites were. The pronunciation of the food items was not altered for the American audience. They are authentic. They have some outdoor seating (about six tables) which is heated and they have indoor seating. It gets busy really fast so get there early unless you want to wait. It is pretty clear that they are busy because the place is amazing. Such good food you really can’t go wrong. The sandwiches are great. The soups are great. The appetizers are great, we had the jerky appetizer, some spring rolls a couple of soups, some pho and a sandwich. It was amazing I can’t wait to go back.
