I ordered the Thai tea martini and my mom had a beer. The martini was GREAT, very strong, perfectly sweet, and super refreshing.
We started with the spicy chili wontons and chicken satay. Both were a good size. The satay was pretty basic and the peanut sauce was underwhelming. It’s a pet peeve of mine when they barely give you any cucumber salad with your satay which is what they did here. However, the chili wontons were delicious, they were cooked perfectly with a nice level of spice.
For entrées, I had the chicken pad thai and my mom ordered the chicken panang curry. The pad thai was a bit basic but had a generous amount of chicken and was a good portion overall. The panang curry was really tasty, but there wasn’t enough chicken for the amount of sauce in the bowl. The veggies in it were very fresh, slightly too raw for me, but my mom loved them.
We finished with mango sticky rice, which was nice. The mango was fresh, though not super sweet.
Overall, everything was pretty good. I’d go back, even though there are a few Thai spots in the area I prefer more. The atmosphere definitely helped make up for some of the shortcomings.
The Pad See Eaw was rich and delicious, the chili chicken paired perfectly with their homemade sauce, and the spicy chicken fried rice was incredibly satisfying.❤️✨
And the star of the night was the coco lava cake—pure heaven in every bite
Food quality / price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is Asian vacation resort. We’ve been here about 15 times now. I’m also going to give them a 10 for consistency. This restaurant is spotlessly clean. The food is always prepared properly and presented beautifully. The most unique feature of Bangkok Republic are their trade secret sauces. Handed down for generations, the flavors of their many unusual sauces will make it impossible for you to stop eating. This is, by far, the best Asian food I’ve ever eaten! The owners continually improve everything about the restaurant, including a newly decorated outdoor seating area with marble table tops, surrounded by a tasteful mix of annual flowers. We typically start with their homemade Spring Rolls, which are incomparable. I’ve been getting the Grandma’s Sukiyaki most visits, which includes chicken, shrimp, crispy vegetables, glass noodles, AND THE BEST SAUCES YOU’LL EVER EAT! It took all of my willpower to not eat the entire, very large, serving. The wife had the Crispy Salmon Bowl, and loved it! Service is always super attentive without being intrusive. The prices are below market for this quality of food. Every visit here has heen fantastic, and I’d encourage everybody to make it a priority to treat yourselves to (possibly) the best Asian food in the world
Usually when people leave five star reviews, there’s usually one aspect of the experience that stands out to them. But I can honestly say that all three elements of the experience (food, service and atmosphere) are worth the 5/5.
The food was amazing, with my favorites being the pork spring rolls and the spicy chili wontons (I think I’m hooked on Thai iced tea too). The menus are very informative for people with dietary restrictions, allergies, or varying levels of spice tolerance as well, with the servers confirming all of this for you on top of it.
Kookkai and the rest of the staff were also incredibly warm and friendly! We visited for my mother’s birthday, and they made sure that the experience was worth the magnitude of the event. Finally, the atmosphere was super warm and inviting. They even decorated for the holidays, adding to the coziness without it feeling overstimulating to the senses.
No complaints whatsoever, and we’ll definitely be back in the future.
The menu is diverse, offering everything from classic Thai dishes to creative twists on traditional flavors. Standout dishes include their Pad Thai, which is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and spice, and the Tom Yum Soup, which has a rich, aromatic broth full of fresh herbs and tangy flavors.
For those who enjoy spice, the restaurant doesn’t shy away from heat, but they’re also great at adjusting to your preferences. The service is friendly and attentive, with staff knowledgeable about the menu and happy to recommend dishes or help with spice levels.
While the prices are a bit higher than typical takeout Thai, the quality of the ingredients and the presentation of the dishes justify the cost. Overall, Bangkok Republic offers a wonderful Thai dining experience in the heart of Wilton, perfect for anyone craving flavorful, high-quality Thai food.
Green curry tastes like the one I get at WholeFoods. Just mildly diluted with cream.
Noodles overwhelmingly garlicky and lacking any other flavors.
Sizzling beef was just boiled beef with a sauce that could not be identified.
And they kept bringing us other patrons’ orders several times.
Disappointed.
