Great selection between the meats and self serve buffet. Had the steak, spicy pork sausage, and chicken wings. All seasoned with the right amount of salt. The buffet has too many items to list, but the rice, beans, slaw and pico tasted fresh and very enjoyable.

So, after a 3-hr meeting today at the Meriden Meeting house. I stepped out and headed for my Loretta. I came around the corner, and it hit me like a Ton of Bricks. The smell of specially grilled and cooked barbecue Brazilian foods filled the air. Then I let my nose guide my steps Low and behold there it was. I went in and met the owner and his workers great people with a heart to put a smile on everyone’s face that eats there. I had the lunch special by the pound Brazilian food at its Golden best. I read their personal Story, and it goes as follows. “Our Story Banana Brazil” began with family, tradition, and a belief that good food brings people together. Our roots trace back to Minas Gerais, Brazil, where our founder grew up surrounded by the flavors and warmth of home cooked Brazilian food. When members of our family immigrated to Danbury, Connecticut, they brought those traditions with them at a time when Brazilian food was still hard to find in the area, despite a growing Brazilian community. In the early days, family members worked side by side, building what would become one of Danbury’s first Brazilian restaurants. It started small, fueled by hard work, long hours, and a shared goal: to create a place where people could feel at home, enjoy familiar flavors, and gather as a community. As the restaurant grew, so did the family behind it. Today, Banana Brazil is proudly led by Nilton, alongside dedicated partners who share the same commitment to quality, culture, and community. While the business has evolved, its heart remains the same — family-driven, community-focused, and rooted in Brazilian tradition. What began as a single location has grown into multiple restaurants, each serving a full Brazilian buffet with something for everyone. From longtime regulars to first time guests, we’re proud to be a place where cultures meet, meals are shared, and everyone is welcome. Glad to share this Experience. Sincerely Yours:

I have ordered from this restaurant multiple times and loved it. Tonight when I received the chicken wrapped with bacon, it was pure fat wrapped with bacon… no chicken whatsoever. The steak also was nothing but fat. Because of this experience I will never order from them again.

This place is awesome. Very clean & the food put out is always hot and fresh. I started my new job a week ago and have been coming here almost every day for my lunch. Highly recommend

Showed up right around lunchtime. Had the buffet. All the food was lukewarm to cold. The sausages were cold and congealed. The cheese rolls were dried out and rock hard. The beans and pork ended up being room temperature. Everything I tried off of the buffet table I tried a bite and instantly regretted it.

With the buffet I got some meat and grilled pineapple. The meat was so overdone I couldn’t hardly chew it. So far past medium or rare it was to the dried out boot leather stage. The pineapple was sweet and good.

Overall the pricing, structure, and food were extremely disappointing. Go anywhere else, this place is awful.

As I was leaving I used the restroom and the soap dispenser didn’t work. Not sure what people are using there. yikes!

The food was exceptional. The steak and hot sausages were delicious. The food was good value, the place was clean and the people at the counter were polite and professional. The buffet style is great to pick whatever you like.

Banana Brazil advertises itself as a buffet, but it’s important for potential customers to know that you pay by the weight of your bowl or plate, not a flat fee. This pricing structure might catch some off guard, especially if you’re expecting a traditional all-you-can-eat experience. That said, the food was excellent—everything was well-seasoned, and I have no complaints about the taste. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being misled by the ‘buffet’ signage. $43 was bill for two plates.

Just like the last few low rating reviews here, the complaints remain, Food was super super super dry, it was to the point that when I decided I couldn’t eat it, my dog had a hard time chewing it. The rice and beans were good but the chicken was just waaay too hard. The plantains were just giant chunks and not sliced and not really flavorful at all. dissapointing because this place used to be so good.

I tried the location in Hartford and had a fantastic experience. I wanted my husband to try it out and it turned out to be an epic FAIL! I paid $80.00 for cold flavorless food. How do you have a buffet with hot wells but the food is cold. When we sat down to eat-the chicken lasagna, fried fish, and chicken was ice cold. This is how people get food poisoning by not holding food at the proper temperatures. The steak was just okay nothing to rave over. We definitely won’t be back! I paid $80.00 just to leave hungry because the food was so bad. The owner or manager had an arrogance about him that wasn’t customer friendly when my husband made him aware about the food being cold.
