Social Profile:

Bambino is the sophomore restaurant from seasoned restaurateur and chef duo Adam Orman and Fiore Tedesco, debuting in early 2024 in the heart of East Austin, and joining their existing concept L’Oca d’Oro. Bambino weaves together the spirit of the 80s with a grown-up sensibility–arguably bringing to life 10-year old Fiore’s vision of a pizzeria. With reverence for the integrity of the dough and ingredient sourcing overall, the pizzeria represents a culmination of Fiore’s life in food, from his start as a pre-teen shaping rolls at a cousin’s bakery through a career in fine dining–all accompanied by 30 years of making fresh mozzarella and a fidelity to excellence.

Bambino is a quaint little pizza bar with a cozy vibe. I’m a big fan of Loca d’Oro, which shares the same owner, so I came in with fairly high expectations. Price-wise, it’s similar to DeSano.
We ordered the Tracksuit pizza and the Caesar salad based on recommendations. The pizza was just okay. The sauce was pretty bland, which made the whole pie feel a bit flat. The ricotta and hot honey combo was interesting, but the pepperoni was pretty sparse. Overall, I’d say DeSano has the upper hand when it comes to flavor and balance.
The Caesar salad was decent. I liked the use of kale and the strong lemony note, which made it feel fresh. That said, it really lacked garlic flavor. There were a few anchovies on top as garnish, and I honestly wished more of that anchovy flavor made its way into the dressing. It needed more punch to stand up to the richness of the pizza.
Overall, Bambino is a nice spot with a pleasant atmosphere, but you can get pizza at DeSano for similar price.

This pizza lovin’ gal is SO happy!! I’m pretty picky about pizza since I grew up in NY.
We could see why it made the top 10 Statesman recommended pizza spots! The sourdough crust is made from Barton Mills organic flour. They carefully source the best ingredients, like making the sourdough crust from organic Barton Mills flour.
All staff are super friendly, and our waiter (Q) was very helpful in answering my questions regarding ingredients. In fact, the manager came over to advise me that one of my dietary restriction items was in the pizza we were ordering. However, he was also able to adjust that ingredient and still bring an amazing pizza!
We ordered one slice of the cheese pizza. Then we got the garlic cheesy bread and a Little Stinker pie.
The cheese pizza was very good, but I also think it would be best if we got the whole pie made fresh. Great crust! Light and airy, but crispy with a little chew to it – and the wonderful depth of flavor that sourdough brings to the party.
The garlic cheesy bread was also tasty – homemade bread, with garlic butter, herbs, mozzarella and parm, and some EVOO.
The Little Stinker was the winner here! OMG…SOOOOO good! It has lion’s mane mushrooms sliced thinly, mushroom conserve (this is like a confit but it has some red wine vinegar in it, so this is the one substituted without vinegar), fontina, taleggio, mozzarella, kale (crispy chiffonade on top tasting of garlic oil!), garlic oil, red pepper flakes. Wow..everything just worked together for an amazingly flavored pizza! It had the bit of crunch to the undercarriage, and the char I love, plus a great crunchy edge. I would get this again..and again!
My husband wanted the peanut butter chocolate pie, so we got a slice to go since we were pretty stuffed!
Note that parking is a bit painful. There’s another lot next to the one at Bambino which had some empty spaces, and there is also some street parking.
Highly recommend!

Pizza, pizza, pizza!

This place is great. The crust is very thin so it does not make good reheated pizza. I nearly broke a tooth the day after. There’s a great playground for kids outdoors.

We had the Little Stinker and Uncle Frankie. I like the Little Stinker better. Pro tip, add sausage to it!

Crazy price for soft serve. 8 bucks where they filled up less than half of the cup. They saving money for the owner like it’s their bonus on the line. And they were not the best either. You can go to McDonald’s and they would taste pretty close but McDonald’s would give you more with a quarter of the price.

Just to be clear we didn’t get pizza here. This is only comparing soft serve to soft serves. Also they automatically charged 20% tip even for take out. Took more than 10 min for us to get the soft serves. What’s the service here that we’re supposed to tip 20% ? We walked up to order and we waited and we got the items that we already paid for from the overpriced menu already. No thanks.

As most reviewers stated great spot with lots businesses around with good pizza. Although a bit costly and they add a 20% surcharge, I gave 5 stars for:
The service was 5 stars even though the tip is prepaid. Often servers are lazy or lacking bc they know they have their tip already. Not here.
The extras on the menu. The Mozzarella sticks are fresh made daily and are Gooood.
The frozen drinks are tasty and unique. I’m not a fan of gin, but the frozen orange negroni was delicious
The beet salad was THE BEST I’ve had in years.
The desserts are uniquely Fabulous from the ice cream to the peanut butter chocolate pie

I kept it simple and ordered just a plain pepperoni and my gosh, it was so good! The under carriage held up so well with a satisfying crunch to top it off. It was nothing that was too heavy or loaded and definitely will order it again. Good job! We enjoyed the outdoor seating and there’s a designated area for the kids to roam around and play. Great spot.

While recently traveling in Austin TX and meeting the owner, chef Fiore, at a cooking demonstration at the Texas Book Festival we discovered he was originally from an area not too far from where we live in upstate NY, so we had to give it a try. We enjoyed a classic pepperoni (cupped) and a Margherita pizza which tasted like home!

The food is absolutely amazing. Every pizza knocks it out of the park. That said the deep fried olives were not my flavor. This is a great place to bring a family with small children so they can go run off some steam and the enclosed play area. The one issue is the service. The service fee is included in the bill and boy does it show. They generally seemed dis interested in helping in any sort of way. And if the service of going to be so poor, allowed your customers to refill the own drinking glasses.

Just absolutely one of my favorite spots in Austin. They bake the bread on-site, they use quality ingredients, it’s family-owned! The Coppa pizza is *life-affirming*. Bless yourself with a visit soon.

EDIT late Jan 2026: The co-owner IMMEDIATELY got in touch with us about our experience, vowed to do the work to talk to the employees and make things right, and asked us back with a gift. We have yet to return but are planning on coming back with the same friends and I’m confident the service will redeem itself! Thank you so much Adam 🙂

Early Jan 2026:
I’ve been here before and had a fine time, but this time the service was appalling… Met up with friends and couldn’t spot any servers outside, so I went in to order from the bar. Was told they “can’t take outdoor orders there,” which is honestly bizarre. Anyone who’s worked at a restaurant knows most POS systems can handle orders from any computer.

The bartender told me to wait at my table and someone would come help. Had to flag someone down, and when they finally came over, the server was totally unfriendly. Sorry, didn’t realize I was inconveniencing you by trying to order food!

The automatic 20% gratuity they add seems to give their staff zero motivation to put any effort into service. Our friends tried ordering for a full hour with no one coming by. We went to the bar twice, and both times the bartender promised to “send a manager over,” but our table was completely ghosted. Oh, and pretty sure we didn’t get the happy hour pricing during happy hour!

Would love to hear from management/ownership what was going on, or why this level of service is considered acceptable here now.
