The service inside was excellent, the food was great, and the entertainment added a really nice touch to the atmosphere. Overall, the vibe once seated was enjoyable and made for a fun celebration.
However, the experience at the front door was disappointing. Some of the greeters were noticeably rude to the point that I felt compelled to mention it to the owner. First impressions matter, and the tone is set before guests even make it to their table. Hospitality goes a long way, especially when you’re celebrating something special.
I’ll probably give Balos one more attempt because the food and overall experience inside truly are good. But let’s be honest, there’s amazing food all over DC, and I’m going to spend my money where I feel fully welcomed and valued. A little hospitality goes a long way.
We ordered the bottomless espresso martinis, and the server came around with a cart to refill them even before we were done! The drinks were absolutely delicious, and the food was just as good.
Considering how packed the restaurant was during brunch, the service was top-notch, thank you Nico! The place was full and definitely noisy, but it added to the fun, energetic atmosphere. They also had a live singer who was entertaining.
I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend this spot for great martinis and delicious Greek food!
Our only qualms were with the drink/bar service. 3 of us wanted espresso martinis for our bottomless drinks but it took a while to get them so we were only able to order 3 in our time limit. Jose was great though and noticed the wait so he was giving us some champagne/prosecco(?) until we got the drinks we ordered but I’m not a huge fan of bubbly so I declined it after a while. Maybe they can look into having more bartenders on shift to cut down wait times? Not sure.
The manager was so kind and accommodating during our wait. Our server, Niko, was exceptional and truly the best server I have ever had at any restaurant. You can tell this place truly cares about the experience for all of their guests. The food and drinks were incredible. Everything was easily a 1000/10. The napkin toss was such a fun and unique touch, and we loved every minute of it.
From the friendly host, to the understanding manager, to our amazing server Niko, plus the exceptional food, this was hands down one of the best dining experiences ever.
Highly recommend!
Lastly they even surprised us with complementary dessert as it was a birthday event. !!Just impeccable!!
Even with a reservation, the wait time was frustrating. Once seated, though, the service was quick and our waiter was genuinely nice and attentive, especially considering how insanely busy it was.
The food was just okay. Nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Since it was Restaurant Week, it felt even less worth it when they ran out of dessert, which was disappointing. On the plus side, the drinks were very strong and the DJ was good.
The bathroom situation is honestly wild. They only have four bathrooms, and the line takes forever. To make it worse, they allow regulars to cut the line, which was pretty annoying.
It was fun for a bit when they started throwing napkins. I experienced it once and that part was entertaining, but overall I probably wouldn’t come back.
