We’d seen plenty of mixed opinions about Ballyhoos, so we decided to check it out ourselves — and we’re glad we did. I called ahead to ask about their specials and was pleasantly surprised to hear an AI‑generated answering system. Love that they’re keeping up with the times.
The moment we walked in, we were impressed. The interior is absolutely beautiful, with multiple dining rooms, each spotless and thoughtfully decorated. You can tell they pay attention to every detail.
The service was outstanding from start to finish. We even had the chance to meet the owner, who clearly knows the industry well. Our waitress was incredibly polite, attentive, and didn’t miss a single thing with our order.
As for the food — exceptional. Not one complaint from either of us.
Ballyhoos is a true asset to our small town, and we were genuinely pleasantly surprised. We’ll definitely be returning.

We ordered food to go and I picked it up. We had pizza and appetizers. No complaints at all. It was very good, reasonably priced, and ready quickly. The staff greeted me when I walked in and they were very nice. I would definitely order from here again.

My first visit to this establishment was just nothing short of “A great place” a wonderful “Pub Style” if I may description fits. My prime rib was prepared the way I need them to be, impressed with my fries as ordered (well done, no salt).
I can’t end my review without praise of my server Grace, observing from my table she was most attentive with all customers. Cudos to the chef and support staff, food served hot and prompt.
I will be returning….. Count on that.

Food was okay – seemed to be the same sysco stuff you can find at any other restaurant. I had the fish platter and wedges -fish was very salty (and normally I like salty – this was overkill… but the wedges were good. My husband had burger and fries and his fries were very salty. My daughter had burger and fries and she enjoyed it. The service was great though. Our server was very professional, attentative, and polite.
The TV had a sad show about abused dogs that bothered my daughter. We were seated in a booth where the only options were the dog show or a black and white show. The music was also a little loud.
After reading other reviews and the responses by the owner, I’m not sure I will be dining here again.

The owner of this place must be off their meds. Ive never seen such crazy responses to reviews before. Rather than lashing out, banning people and threatening to call police on people, maybe take the criticism and try to do better. Any business owner knows people tend to write more reviews for bad service than good. Your reaction speaks volumes to your character.
Now for an honest review, I wish I could give one. Came in for dinner and was ignored by all staff. Couldn’t get a table, couldn’t get a drink, nothing. Waited 10 mins and said to heck with it and left. Give us your tirade now….

Well, you definitely didn’t disappoint. Just so you are aware, we did try to talk to staff. We were ignored. We come from a very large city where wait times are typical. Never have I walked into a restaurant and been straight up ignored by everyone. We weren’t told there was a wait, your staff acted as if we didn’t exist. We patronize all kinds of small town establishments and yours has been the worst by far. Might be time to find a new profession.
I think it’s time to go back to your “big city” as they may share your values. A restaurant owner threatening to call police for a bad review is both laughable and incredibly sad. Good luck to you.

Let me start by saying our service was great, our waitress was amazing! Now onto the food…chicken dumpling soup was not edible, the chicken was hard to swallow as it was dry and just not good, salad bar was ok. Appetizer was a bit pricey…$9.00 for 9 mushrooms. My prime rib was way overcooked, I asked for medium rare and came out medium, medium well. Not very flavorful at all, the fries were good. Unfortunately after watching my sister take a bite of her gyro and bite into a long black hair that was cooked into the sandwich ( she immediately spit it out) I was done eating and didn’t want to take my left overs home! The chili burger was supposed to come with queso..there was none, chili was so scarce that the top of the bun did not even have a spot of chili on it and the giant heap of sautéed onions were not cooked long enough and were raw. The quesadillia was ok but lacked cheese. The four of us left hungry and feeling ill after seeing the hair in the food. The gyro meal was taken off the bill but the $30.00 + over cooked prime rib was not and was left on the plate as i couldn’t stomach to take it home. We were very excited to try this place and were extremely disappointed. We will not be back!! ***** UPDATE RESPONSE TO COMMENT FROM OWNER…to begin, the hair was shown to staff, who was disgusted by the sight of it! It was in the meat, not the pita, and to be honest there was two hairs in there!! I didn’t menetion the way overcooked prime rib, because believe it or not I am not that kind of person. However I did tell the server I would be leaving 95% of it and did not want a togo because I honestly felt ill after seeing my sister pull a hair out of her mouth!! I did mention the few good things from my visit so your assumption that I bashed everything there is just untrue! You obviously did not talk to your staff before writing this ridiculous response. The gyro was taken off the bill, so again did you even talk to your staff before attacking me and my review? I do not know former owners or employees, nor do I seek out to bad mouth your establishment. Where that comment came from is beyond me! I gave a honest review and do not need a free meal, I am quite financially able to pay for food. I hope your response comes from something like AI because I have absolutely no clue where you got most of your response from, and for an establishment who tells me to put God first your response was anything but that!

Food has been okay at times but inconsistent each visit. Cream puff was very dry and tasted old, burgers were pretty good. Service was also inconsistent with what appears to be a pretty fast staff turnover rate leading to inexperienced or inattentive servers
Ive found the owner also responds very aggressively to negative comments or reviews. Turning what could be simple growing pains into permanently lost customers.
I look forward to new and exciting resturants in Merrill but this one isn’t it

We have eaten here for the last 3 Friday nights and the food has been consistently done outstanding. This week we had other family members with us including kids and all the food was awesome including the kids meals. Our server was very attentive and friendly and helpful.
