We’re from metro Detroit and this was our first time visiting Milwaukee. Whenever I go somewhere new I like to try the different tastes of the region. I saw that Milwaukee style pizza was a thing so I wanted to give it a try. This restaurant had good reviews and multiple mentions on Reddit so I thought why not give it a try. The place has that nostalgia vibe from my childhood, the service was great, and the large pizza was delicious and massive for my wife and I to share. The pizza is thin and sliced into squares to share (tavern style) we’re used to thick square Detroit style so this was new to us but we both really enjoyed it. I’ve never seen pizzas in a bag before either so that was cool. If you live in this area and haven’t tried this place you definitely should!

Balistreri’s is an older, established restaurant. We went on a Saturday afternoon for a leisurely lunch (evenings are always crowded). Fried eggplant was delicious, with a crispy coating, and a large enough portion for 4 people. And the pizza . Cracker thin crust, good amount of toppings and great sauce. Our server was excellent. She was attentive without being intrusive, allowing us to set the pace of our meal.
Overall a great experience – food, service and atmosphere.

Just stopped in for the first time in a long time, but the pizza smells great before you even get thru the door. Tastes great as always. Bonus it is decorated for Christmas! Pics are only a small example, it’s got that warm holiday ambiance

The name is easy to stumble over, but this is a place that’s not easy to forget. I like the old Italian vibe that reminds me of the long running family operated Italian eateries on the East Coast. There’s a real charm and homey atmosphere here that can’t be replicated by newer Italian restaurants. It has tight seating spaces which fill up fast (but doesn’t take away from the coziness). The food is outstanding. I can tell when someone puts pride into their food. Flavorful, gigantic portions. Everything I ate (I came back for a second time) was outstanding. Vast choices of pasta and giant pizzas bought out to you on big baking pans. If you leave here hungry, you have hollow legs. A great place for friends, family, a date, or just yourself. It’ll be a treat either way.

Large “Works” pizza, the sauce is 2nd to none, the sausage has so much flavor, the veggies are fresh cut(except for the canned mushrooms?)
Breaded eggplant is almost a meal in itself, lightly breaded and oh so good, you ust get it when you go.
Tiramisu cake imported from Italy is worth getting, great texture and flavors.
Shannon provided top notch service.
