The service hits that rare sweet spot: attentive without hovering, genuinely friendly, and easy to talk to. You feel taken care of, not managed. That alone sets the tone before the food even shows up.
The sushi is outstanding. Incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of original roll concepts that actually make sense—not just novelty for novelty’s sake. Every bite feels intentional.
And then there’s the seared duck. Simple, clean, cooked perfectly, with just enough spice to elevate it without overpowering anything. Honestly? It was flawless. One of those dishes you stop talking mid-sentence for.
The ambiance ties it all together. Chill, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in, enjoy the experience, and not feel rushed or distracted.
Bottom line: worth every penny. Baku delivers on food, service, and vibe—and that combination is harder to find than it should be.
We walk in and are immediately greeted by the sound of the chef firing off some rather loud directions to the staff, which I wouldn’t mention if the restaurant had any audible music or conversation to drown out the sound. The restaurant is at 45% capacity at max, but we are told we cannot be sat for ten minutes because the “kitchen is behind.” It is rather unclear what that had to do with us being sat, but it wasn’t a huge deal. When we get to our table, we see the bar that we should have been directed to when our table wasn’t immediately ready. The starters were FABULOUS. Toro toast and hamachi crispy rice were absolute standouts. But, the rolls are slightly overcomplicated and the nigiri lacks any garnish, which would be ok if the fish were slightly more flavorful. Our waiter was kind but somewhat distracted in spite of the top floor being completely empty besides us, a large family party, another small party and two people at the bar. Obviously not the restaurant’s explicit fault but the family party was pretty loud and distracting at times. Beyond that, the food is fairly priced but the drinks are absolutely too expensive. It would take 15 dollars an hour for them to hire a marketing intern which could absolutely help this place by marketing the upstairs to a more young adult like crowd and keeping the family vibes downstairs.
To the point our waitress said it was taking longer than normal, but barely checked on us besides that honestly.
For how expensive this place was, while the food was delicious, the wait times are absolutely insane (but actually only seemed to be for us, because people around us were getting theirs pretty quickly comparatively).
Almost 3 hours of dinner for one round of drink and two hand rolls and a nigiri was a little crazy.
Also, the table next to us got a dessert and sang to for their birthday but we didn’t 🙁
Service from Nicole was the cherry on top of a beautiful experience. Love the vibes upstairs too, so different for Charlotte, the decor actually has soul.
