Bake sale Betty…… Mmmm Mmmmm DELICIOUS! this place gets packed and busy and the operation time is limited, so if you go there, it may have a long line, but they will get the orders in and out real quick. The chicken is tender and crispy, the slaw has a little spice since it has jalapeño’s in it but it’s a nice blend. If they have the strawberry short cake… GET IT!! ITS HELLLLLLLLLAAAAAA GOOD HAHAHA.

Chicken Sandwich was okay, but lacked seasoning. The slaw might be good on other sandwiches, but I don’t think it paired well with the chicken patty. I got a chocolate chip cookie, and was very undwhelmed by it. It was extremely sweet, but lacked any of the real flavor of a chocolate chip cookie. The texture of it seemed a bit off as well.

Pretty much the best Fried Chicken sandwich you can get anywhere. Their desserts are seasonal so you aren’t guaranteed to get the one you want, but if at all possible try to go when the Bread Pudding is in season; that’s their best dessert.
If you’re ever in the east bay, i highly recommend you check it out.

If you haven’t been to Bakesale Betty, you’re
missing out on something truly special. I ordered the apple rhubarb crumble pie and the strawberry shortcake, and both were absolutely phenomenal.

What stood out most was the balance — not overly sweet, but rich in flavor and incredibly fresh. The crumble topping on the pie had just the right crunch, and the filling was perfectly tart and comforting. As for the strawberry shortcake, it was hands-down the best I’ve ever had — light, fluffy, and full of real strawberry flavor without being sugary.

I’ve had my fair share of desserts, but these two stand out as some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re anywhere near Oakland!

My friend Faith was visiting from Maryland. I had asked her what and where she wanted to eat at while she was in town. She said, “Bakesale Betty”! (Oakland). Her first time trying this fried chicken sandwich w/slaw was 7 years ago. I was surprised that out of all the places she visited before, this was the spot she wanted to go back to!

Bakesale makes many delicious baked goods which includes cookies, scones and pies. But, you are really here for one thing: Fried Chicken sandwich w/slaw. Crispy, juicy chicken w/touches of cayenne and pepper. Dare I say it’s one of the best? I had one for lunch and I’m already thinking about wanting another one!

The fried chicken sandwich here is one of the best things that you can eat in Oakland. The chicken itself is tender, large, really nice to bite into with the flavorful breading. The bread is also perfect, slightly crunchy on the outside and then when you press it onto the chicken it flattens just like it should, and it absorbs the sauce without getting soggy. My favorite part is the jalapeño slaw which is fresh, crunchy, spicy, perfectly acidic to balance the fat of the fried chicken. Really a masterpiece!

The fried chicken sandwich didn’t live up to the hype imo. Needed more spices/rub/pickled ingredients. Overall, it was still very good but not 5 star must have. Hot sauce is a must IMO.

We got the strawberry shortcake too and it was good.

I always see a line at the place and wanted to check it out. I got the chicken sandwich and the bread pudding. I would not recommend if you are looking for flavorful food. The chicken sandwich has a lot of slaw in it and is the most tasteless chicken I have had in a while. The bread pudding wasn’t tasty. The caramel drizzle was tasty. Maybe they added so much caramel to compensate for the taste. I should have read the reviews before going.

They’re known for their chicken sandwiches, and for food reason, they’re some of the best you can get! Everyone, one of their baked goods that I’ve tried, had been amazing. If you haven’t, you need to try it. Just make sure to get there early!

Jeez it’s been years since I’ve dropped by here, I honestly had forgotten how good this place is. I love that the fried chicken sando is so minimal, that slaw does so much work. You’d think oh maybe this needs a sauce, maybe some pickles, perhaps a slice of tomato… But no. This thing rocks as is. Absolutely eat it with the hot sauce.

Most people talk about the strawberry shortcake, but I’m here to tell you to get the pecan shortbread, it’s perfect.
