the pastries look prettier than they taste ! i was really excited to try everything, but i think my expectations were too high because i was honestly underwhelmed with what i got, and most of them just didn’t taste as fresh as i hoped (even though i went first thing in the morning). the prices are quite reasonable though, it’s hard to find aNything at this price now.

the pain suisse had a really good texture — the pastry was much chewier and softer than i expected, but the sticky shell was still crisp. i liked the sweet vanilla-y paste, but it wasn’t life changing.

i was disappointed with the nutella babka; it was way to crispy and tasted a bit burnt. there was a glob of hazelnutty, gooey, rich nutella on the top, but other than that, there was not much chocolatiness in the rest of the babka.

the cookie was also a lot crunchier than i expected, and didn’t really have the chewy/gooey center that i prefer in cookies. the whole thing was crunchy and crumbly, and it wasn’t really soft at all. it had a strong caramel-ly, dulche-ish aroma and nutty chunks throughout, but i just didn’t LOVE it.

We had the butter croissant and the berry cheese danish. The latter was good. The croissant, you can see it’s high quality, but it’s still lacking somehow. It’s not very buttery, or flaky… Maybe it’s a choice, but I think it can be improved. The lattes and service were very good.

Came in because the Ube latte caught my eye, it was just okay maybe I need to ask for it a bit sweeter next time. Would love to try the strawberry latte next. Also grabbed the croissant and croissant pudding, very good! Loved it a lot (: the Guy at the front was very nice, the look of the store was very cute too.

Had such great time at Bar Pompette the night before that I decided I would go out of my way to try the bakery. But sadly both the pastry and the coffee were kinda MEH.

I don’t really understand the mixed reviews. The croissant pudding was delicious. The pastries are flaky and not terribly sweet like so many patisseries are. Everything is fresh. Bread-wise, cannot get much better than this in Toronto. Very fair price points too.

This place does not rival any patisserie in France or Montreal. I bought 5 items just to be sure before I posted this review, and it cost me $26.90 before tips.

The kouign Aman is straight up burnt. It’s dark brown and not even breakable. It’s hard on the outside. The real kouign amann is crunchy on the outside and has a golden brown crust and is flaky and buttery on the inside. Pompette’s kouign amann was under baked on the inside.

Butter croissants have no butter taste or scent on the outside or inside. The inside does have pocket holes, but there isn’t any taste to it.

Apple turnover has very little filling in it. It’s described as Apple butter with vanilla bean, but it felt like I was eating another croissant.

Almond croissant was not fresh. It was stale and tasted old.

The banana bread just tasted like sugar and flour. I’m not sure if they used banana puree or an actual banana, but it was below average.

They have a beautiful store, but the cashier had very little customer service.
Just asked, “What do you want?”Anything else?” “Here you go.” Very transactional. Little warmth.

Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Maybe their speciality is something else? I’ve attached photos so you can be the judge.

Visited by chance after hearing rave reviews of their croissant. I had the croissant, baguette and chocolate coffee cookie. The Chocolate Coffee cookie is delicious – incredibly fudgey, slightly dense and soft. Definitely a new go to in city for double chocolate cookies. The croissant was good but not one of the best I’ve had (in my opinion) and not that big although beautiful even shape. It didn’t flake as much and feel like it needs more butter. Baguette was ok.
Staff were lovely and prices are on point.

This spot is amazing! Loved the croissants! Crunchy, chewy, buttery perfection. Coffee was great! Oat milk available as a non dairy sub. The savory tart with chorizo was sweet and salty and delicious. I will definitely be back!

Visited this bakery in search for croissants or pastry goods to bring home. My family and I enjoyed the croissants very much! Love the texture and flavor! Our favorite was the Almond Croissant! Crisp and crunchy, buttery and puffy! Would definitely consider this as my go to bakery!
