Noted as one of texas’s best cafés. They have specials (lunch) pretty much every day. Most notably is Thursday. That’s turkey and dressing day. Lunch specials come with a cup of soup and a dessert. Soups change every day also. Wednesday soup is taco soup. Hands down my favorite. Thursday is cream of chicken. The chicken fried steak is outstanding. Lots of pies to choose from also. Overall an outstanding place to eat.

Was really impressed with the HUGE breakfast portions and really inexpensive prices. Five of us ate till we could bust, and the total bill was only $66. This would’ve easily been a $100 meal back home. The vibe is a bit old school cafeteria, but the service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend trying the Ranchero sauce on your eggs.

This is a true authentic super delicious southern diner. Prices are on point and the food is excellent . The biscuits and gravy are top notch, the hashbrowns are so good and the bacon and sausage are perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection featuring a robust flavor of heavenly bliss. I highly recommend stopping in and getting a hearty meal before your beach adventure. I promise you and the family will not regret it. Parking can be a pain as there is limited street parking in front of the diner, but it is well worth any kind of wait you may experience. We didn’t have to wait long for the record, but if you do it’s worth it. This food is cooked to order so it comes out hot and fresh!
Don’t forget to tip your waitress they bust their rears providing excellent service and quality dining

Both the exterior and interior of the reasturant is in need of updating. However, with the state of the economy and cost of materials, it is understandable why it has not been done. Apparently, they are very busy, at least that is my assessment based on the crowd. The floors were in need of cleaning. The food was fantastic. The chicken in my salad was one of the most flavorful chicken I have tasted. I bet the rest of the food is amazing. Definitely stop by and enjoy the food!

I seriously don’t know what took me so long to finally dine at the Bakery Cafe in Aransas Pass. This place was established in 1929!!! Our waitress was so nice and they seem to have plenty of workers! The place is very well kept!

We went old school. We started off with an order of basic nachos…refried beans with melted cheese on top of light crispy corn tortillas and an order of beer battered onion rings!! Both were delicious! The onion rings were full of flavor, light, crunchy and sweet. Mom ordered herself a simple bowl of delicious chili and I ordered a Homemade cheeseburger with fries! Everything met our expectations! Been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a true original homemade cheeseburger! Slice of apple pie for later!

Disappointed Experience at the Bakery Café in Aransas Pass

Today my wife and I decided to grab lunch at the Bakery Café in Aransas Pass. She was in a bit of a time crunch, so we called in our order to go. When we arrived, we noticed the place wasn’t too busy—maybe 10 to 12 people—so we decided to sit down and eat there instead.

At the entrance, the sign said “Seat Yourself,” so we did. A waitress came by and we explained that we had ordered to go but wanted to dine in. She gave us a look and said “okay,” but as she walked away, she told another lady she wouldn’t serve us because she “wouldn’t get a tip.”

That honestly disappointed me. If she had just served us, she would’ve gotten a tip—because I always tip well when treated right. No one brought us our food; instead, the lady at the counter told us they don’t allow that because the waitresses don’t like it.

We had chosen to stay and eat there to support a local business, but the way it was handled left a bad taste. I told the lady at the counter that if the issue was about not getting a tip, that was the wrong mindset—because treating people right always comes back to you.

Moral of the story: treat people with kindness and respect, and you’ll always get what you deserve in return
