INCREDIBLE CLASS! Second time taking it 🙂
Firstly, let me say that I enjoyed taking Brittiny’s Cake Decorating Class so much, I signed up to learn how to decorate a different cake. She is so kind, humble, and extremely knowledgeable. Brittiny demonstrates on a cake of her own and then will walk you through the steps at your pace. She genuinely cares you are happy with your cake and goes the extra mile, knowing that each person comes to the class with their own level of expertise. She will help you correct your form, give guidance on the tools she uses, and simplifies the steps to make it feel less overwhelming. Brittiny is attentive and wants you to feel proud of your cake. For instance, my cake kept leaning to the side, and she recommended putting it in the freezer to help stabilize it. This meant the rest of the class went ahead, but Brittiny graciously caught me up without feeling rushed, and I loved the personal little side lesson.
I took this class last year to learn how to decorate my daughter’s 1st birthday cake. I left that class so confident, I decorated her cake and loved the result. I am so grateful to Baked on the James for offering such an incredible class that made it possible to confidently bake my own kid’s cakes.

I have always loved the baked goods from Baked on the James, and purchased from Brittiny before she had her own store in Scottsville. But BOY am I glad she has her own brick and mortar store to be able to visit whenever that craving hits. The staff in there are amazing and DeVante is always so friendly, talkative, and has such great customer. I don’t know if he remembers me from coming in the past, or if he’s always that warm and welcoming, but feeling that welcomed is such a great feeling and that goes a long way. I haven’t visited as much as I probably could have, but I absolutely loved the cake decorating class and will be taking another one. Although Brittiny was sick and couldn’t teach our class, she didn’t cancel and had the more then capable Emily step in for her and she was amazing as well. I can’t wait to take another class with either Emily or Brittiny and have had friends request to come with me next time because they want to go for the first time or enjoyed their other classes so much. So if you’re in Scottsville stop by and get a tasty treat. Nothing at all has disappointed me and I’ve tried a lot of cupcake flavors, couple of the different kinds of cinnamon rolls, banana pudding, brownies, and cheesecakes. I’ve also purchased pup cupcakes and the dogs enjoyed them very much as well.

We used Baked on the James for our wedding cake and desserts. We did not want a large wedding cake but instead opted for a small cake for my husband and I and offered the guests pie cups instead.
The pie cups were a hit with the guests and we loved them because they required less mess/effort than cutting pies or a cake. We had some guests tell us they had to leave because otherwise they were worried they would eat a fourth pie cup! lol
Service was great. Dessert was great. The pricing was very reasonable. Would highly recommend baked on the James for wedding desserts or just an addictive sweet treat.

Baked on the James made the cake and cupcakes for our wedding this summer, and we could not be happier with how they turned out! The presentation was beautiful, but more importantly, everything tasted amazing! Our guests were raving about how delicious the cake / cupcakes were – with some guests admitting they had 3 cupcakes! Brittiny was great to work with and even made signs for the cupcake display describing the flavor / what was in each cupcake, which was one less thing we had to do leading up to our wedding day!

I’ve been buying cupcakes from Brittiny since she was baking out of her home, long before she opened her storefront, and they have always been absolutely delicious. When we decided to get married in Cape Charles, VA, I was so excited that Brittiny agreed to make our wedding cupcakes. It meant so much to have something sweet from “home” included in our special day.

I have been purchasing Baked on the James goods since before there was a storefront. Every single item there is amazing. To say that they are just “good” would be a disservice to their store. I’ve never met someone who puts more love (and butter ❤️) into their craft. Brittiny will bend over backwards to get the customer squeezed in for what they need, even if she really doesn’t have the time to do so. Many small businesses struggle to keep prices low and also keep product on the shelves and she does this with skill, grace, and honesty. If you walk in and your main complaint is there not being any baked goods left, then it sounds like you should get there earlier next time! In case you can’t connect the dots, it’s not because she doesn’t make enough, it’s because they are so good, people will line up out the door when they open, if they want to ensure they get what they want. Amazing baked goods and flavors. But more importantly, amazing business and people.

Baked on the James is the best! We have been customers since Brittiny was baking out of her home and I’ve never been disappointed….everything is always good and beautiful!! We get our holiday pies and treats from her. I am boring and plain cheesecake is my favorite and hers is the absolute best. Melts in your mouth, could eat an entire cheesecake to myself so good. She has made all of my daughter’s birthday cakes/cupcakes and has even offered to make me cupcakes when I vacation in Cape Charles (who does that?!). Her cupcakes are so good that my husband walked her cupcakes and our newborn out of the hospital on discharge day She’s the sweetest and truly cares deeply about her work and customers. Scottsville is so lucky to have this gem.

I’ve never yet been in the shop, but I ordered a cake delivery for my husband’s military retirement party and did everything over email. From seeing the beautiful creations on the website, and reading all of the terrific reviews I wasn’t nervous about leaving this job in their hands and I wasn’t the slightest bit disappointed! They were completely on top of coordinating with the winery that they delivered the cake to…I didnt need to worry about anything. When we saw the cake we were so thrilled and everyone couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful and delicious it was and kept asking where i had it made. You can tell they put a lot of love into what they do, and I am definitely going to use them again in the future and can’t wait to actually go and visit their store in person. The chocolate chip cookie dough flavor is the way to go if you ever order a cake by the way!!

I ordered a smash cake and cupcakes for my daughter’s first birthday from Baked on the James. Not only was Brittiny very prompt in answering all of my questions, the payment process and pickup were as smooth as possible. My daughter absolutely loved her beautifully decorated cake and all of our guests raved about how good the cupcakes were. We will definitely be using their services again in the future and look forward to trying all of the baked goods they make in shop.

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday and she really wanted to replicate something she found online. The cake was perfection- it looked exactly like the photos and tasted amazing and the price was very reasonable. We stuck the leftovers in the freezer to eat when we need a fix. Highly recommended.
