I purchased through Uber eats, I’ll never be purchasing again, I’m not sure if the money is funny or what but these oxtails is tuff and not tender, the brown gravy has taken a vacation apparently and season seems to be hiding. I’ve ate from people who lived in Jamaica and the oxtails are authentic. These oxtails, don’t have the brown gravy that sticks to the meat and taste unseasoned. I know good oxtails when I see them. The gravy wasn’t there and whatever was there seemed to be very watery. A lot of corners when making this oxtail seemed to be cut and I’m trying to understand why it gives a bologna aftertaste. I will never order again from this place.

Good spot for a Jamaican food
taste is not very different from your restaurant chain Like Donna’s or Golden crust but the lunch special plate is big and for five dollars you cannot beat it

Good food. Usually consistent. Only a couple times did they have stale food. Very solid place to grab a meal.

This is my first time eating at this place and the food is amazing. I ordered curry goat and it was cooked to perfection! I also bought a natural juice called “Mia’s” and it was refreshing and tasty. The staff were nice and efficient as well. I am officially making this restaurant my “go to”. Thank you.

I like the atmosphere of this place, but I ordered on doordash for pickup so I didn’t sit in. EDIT: My review on the food: not good, ended up feeling super nauseous after the fact. I would not eat here again or recommend it to anyone to try. Also did not taste authentic. Rice and peas didn’t taste like they had any coconut milk or thyme. The brown stew wasn’t good, tasted like cafeteria or tv dinner food. The scotch bonnet tasted like habanero instead of pure scotch bonnet. This review is based off the brown stew chicken n rice and peas. My mom’s fried fish came cold and she said it tasted refrigerated. The fried cassava had a playdoh flavor.
Overall cafeteria quality food. My mom’s rice n peas 1000x better. 1/5.

We took a chance and ordered 4 meals by Uber eats to try Bak a Yaad. I am picky with my restaurants and stick to our regular Island spots. I read the reviews and decided to give it a chance. The food was delicious and plentiful, We ordered a large Jerk chicken and large fried chicken with rice and peas and vegetables . The flavor was delicious, not too spicy on jerk. The fried was great. The curry chicken was tender and nuff flavor, not spicy. The stew chicken had a great color. We will definitely order again. The chef does amazing dishes. Keep it up!

Another update 8.6.23

We ordered curry goat and it was so tender and delicious with white rice and vegetable. The goat was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of spice.
We also had to order the tender oxtail with rice and peas again. This was an excellent dinner especially with ice cold red stripes to celebrate independence.

We ordered again 6.22.24, picked up the Oxtail, Jerk Pork and curry goat dishes. The food is amazing well seasoned and huge portions. We also met the owner and informed us to visit on Fridays for more authentic JA style dishes and also DJ playing music.

It was my first time trying Jamaican food, I was not disappointed. I ordered goat curry for myself and my husband ordered king fish. Both were good in taste, the goat was a winner though, very tender. We took small meal size but it was quite enough. Thumbs up from me.

This place is GREAt but I see a lot of reviews on the nausea and upset stomach and I must ever since I stopped using the coleslaw for the salad and getting the steamed veggies instead I don’t have that feeling it’s not their fault whoever is doing it is probably doing too much vinegar or whatever or if it’s not fresh so the restaurant needs to be aware of that otherwise the food is great

Atmosphere was nice. There was music playing and there’s a bar to catch a vibe. I got the oxtails with rice and beans. The oxtails are pretty good, cooked throughly. They were fast and customer service was also good.

I went inside of this restaurant with the hopes of eating good food. I didn’t order anything because the lady at the front was rude for one and then for two they didn’t have what I wanted. I thought it was very rude that she didn’t speak to me in a polite way since I never been to this restaurant before. I will not be coming back.
