Local RI chain that serves great Mexican fast food.
My colleagues from Providence have been telling me to try Baja’s for months. According to them, it’s basically an upgraded Chipotle with a much bigger menu. Drove down for a late-night meal, and since this location by Brown is the only one open past midnight, it was still pretty busy even on a Sunday.
The first thing that caught my eye was the chimichangas. I haven’t had one since my college days, so I had to get it. Not as fat or indulgent as the one I used to get in NC, but the protein options here were much better. They go lighter on the rice and beans by default, so it didn’t hit the same level of comfort-food fullness.
Also grabbed a steak burrito bowl, and that was exactly what my colleagues meant. Fresh toppings, good sauces, and most importantly, steak that’s freshly grilled. Not the dry pre-made stuff you get at most chains.

The guys are generous with portions and know how to fold ma huge burrito. I love getting a beans and rice bowl, they add French fries which is sinfully good.

Absolutely love this place I go often, get the Taco bowl! Large portion very filling. Reasonable price. Drinks are amazing !!!!! No alcohol sorry. Friendly. Parking can be difficult.

Favorite place to get a Mexican menu around Brown University. Limited parking. So times we had to park 300 meters away. Crowded sometimes but it’s worth to wait. I love taco but try Quesadillas dish!! You won’t regret. I love the taste is very very delicious. Once you buy a soda the next you will re fill as much as you can . Staffs (I guess Mexicans) are so friendly. Amazing service.

I eat here pretty often and usually have no problems. I ordered some chicken fingers today and they clearly used 3 already cooked fingers and just added a new one and fried them all together. It is so clearly old tenders with one new one. This is so lazy and definitely not acceptable. I expected better.

Still the best Mexican joint in town! Crazy huge & flavorful steak & shrimp burrito for an incredible value of $12. It must’ve weighed 2 lbs & damn it was good!
