Let’s start with the atmosphere. When you walk into the Cat Cafe, it is cute. The interior is painted with lots of cute, festive pieces and also has great character. The cafe is definitely well priced with good food that is cheaper than anything you’d find on the island. The coffees smell great and they have a cute seasonal menu. The staff is very friendly and very kind. They ensured to give us the rules and were very welcoming. Again, no issues here at all. Even the bathroom was super tidy.
The cat side of the cafe is the only thing that fell short for us. We volunteer and rehab animals. We have our own cats and have been to cafes with cats, dogs, and even owls. I had an easier time receiving love from an owl, than most of these cats.
There’s a decent amount of kitties in this room and it’s very well maintained. Super clean, again, cute. But the cats weren’t in the mood to be loved. Yes, cats can be spicy. However, I had one cat come up to me for pets, then nailed me after. Another cat, Tabitha, got me without warning. My hands took a small beating from three cats. The other 5ish in there were sleeping, so we didn’t want to bother them. We learned our lesson with one of them. Honestly, I want to say that 3/10 cats were okay with being pet and the rest really didn’t want to be bothered.
I understand that cats obviously are hit or miss and yes they’re shelter cats who may still be acclimating. I just think that those aren’t the type of cats that should be in a cafe where most people go to for playing and loving cats. The price, 10$ for half an hour is not an issue and people need to realize they’re donations. It’s reasonable. We wish we had a little better of an experience but again, 3/5 stars for this.
We did sign up ahead of time and did the waiver online to visit the cat room. Came early in the morning, and we were the first group in there. Love that we were the only group. The room was very clean, and we were pleasantly surprised by the number of cats in the room. Perfect amount to play with and snuggle. The cats all had different personalities from playful, to affectionate, to grumpy. Love that! We were there for half an hour and really enjoyed our time.
Last, I will say that the employees were very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend stopping in just to get some drinks, snacks, or to visit the kitties! A great family activity as well, as we took our two school-age children and they loved it.
We drove over an hour expecting a cozy, welcoming cat café experience — but unfortunately, this place fell short on so many levels.
First, it’s not clearly advertised that you have to pay just to see the cats. Animal shelters allow you to visit cats for free, so it feels exploitative to charge $20 to sit in a room of strangers just to be near them. The café’s Instagram makes it look like the cats are part of the experience, but that’s only true if you pay extra.
The space itself wasn’t well-maintained — we noticed dirty mats outside (with feces on them), dead plants, and a generally unkempt vibe. Despite charging so much, it doesn’t feel like that money goes back into the space or the animals.
On top of that, the coffee was weak and overpriced — and we were surprised to be charged extra for basic things like oat milk. The girl working the front desk (with blue hair) was also pretty dismissive and rude, which added to the negative vibe.
This had potential, but it ended up being a really underwhelming and disappointing experience.
