The tiramisu martini was excellent! Loved the waiter, the atmosphere and the dessert choices. They have beautiful outdoor patio area to sit in eve (we didn’t this trip as it was very cold). Glad we found a new spot for drinks.
Menus were outdated, the pickled shrimp cocktail and caprese flatbread are no longer available. We spent time reviewing, and then what we chose was not available. The salted caramel old fashioned tasted like gasoline. Just FYI: The restroom is downstairs, not handicap accessible.
We arrived right at 5:00 p.m. when the restaurant was empty. About 10 minutes later, two women with a small child were seated one table away from us, and a few minutes after that, another couple was seated directly next to us. By the time we left, only the three tables were occupied, so it was confusing why guests were seated so close together when there was plenty of space available. The experience would have felt much more comfortable with better spacing.
Unfortinately, it was an altogether horrible experience. The trouble started from entry (even though parking is not ideal, either…). The entry space is extremely cramped. We were the second party to arrive for our reservation, and another two-person walked in after us. There was no greeter ready to confirm reservations. My partner had to walk up to the bar to ask about our reservation, while an exiting party attempted navigate to the door that was being totally blocked by at least 7 people waiting to be seated for their reservation.
This discomfort did not last long, as the bartender called over someone to work on the reservation arrivals. We were brought to the back of the resturant thinking the difficult awkwardnwss would be over. It was not.
I am a fat person, and I would be incorrect to say there was a single other plus size person in this entire resturant – which wouldnt be important, except we were placed at one of the available high top 2-seater tables. There were 4 other low-top tables available (1 4-person, 2 2-person, and 2 recliner type chairs facing each other. Immediately, before even taking a seat, we asked the server if we could change seats. He told us no, and cited there being reservations. Okay, so we sat down… or up, I should say.
The situation got increasingly frustrating, as a new party arrived & the 2 2-person tables were scooted together. I didnt understand why the 4-person couldnt accommodate them, when it was obvious I was visibly uncomfortable. I had to scoot my chair into the walkway a bit so that i wasnt hugging the cold brick wall. BTW- they have lit candles (WITH FIRE) on theTABLE, so I couldnt even adjust myself on the seat by using the table.
And thats how we waited. We came in expecting to pay a pretty penny – Two martinis, 2 nosh sides, and maybe even a dessert to share. As we sat there in complete discomfort, we continued to watch three waiters scurry about the room, hoping each time that we would have someone come to our table. We continued to watch as multiple parties that arrived after us were served multiple times. I mean, one table had had their martinis and desserts before we had been able to talk to a waiter. As we continued to wait, what we planned to order continued to be less and less, until we were just going to get martinis and leave.
While we did get a chocolate cookie (without ordering them) and a glass of water each, we continued to wait and wait in the discomfort of the high top. Eventually, the table next to us left, so my partner immediately got up to find the waiter and ask if we could be moved there once the table was cleaned.
He said no.
My partner, who knew how excited I have been and how long I had waited to try this place, went ahead and found someone else to ask. I believe the person he found was the hostess. She said that we could switch, but at that point, my back was cramping up and my leg was going numb from sitting in a METAL HIGH TOP CHAIR WITH NO CUSHION.
So, we went ahead and decided to leave. We were there for a little over 35 minutes.
I wish it would have been better. I was really excited to experience this.
Services sucked!
For a place that is meant to have a romantic atmosphere.
The waitresses and host’s energy is just so low, give zero consideration of customers and seem sooo careless.
When we arrived, there were plenty of tables to seat us. They purposely tried to seat us next to other people. It’s a small restaurant, spacing matters especially there were many other tables available.
Then the waitress also give me the check when my boyfriend was in the restroom. This is like human psychology 101, you don’t give checks to women or give checks to table when the man is in the restroom.
There’s lot potentials to this place with well thought out desert and menu. But services def need an upgrade. It make people feel cold.
Definitely a good place for couples.
