In 1989, the original Bai Tong started as a small restaurant near the Sea-Tac airport by the former Thai Airways flight attendant, Chanpen Lapangkura. She called her restaurant ‘Bai Tong’, which means banana leaf in Thai. The main purpose was to cater to Thai Airways crew members. She brought in top restaurant chefs from Bangkok and fed the flight crew meals like the ones they had back home. Her business grew, and she relocated to a former root-beer restaurant and drive-in by the airport’s north end. Today, Bai Tong is the standard for authentic Thai food in the Seattle area. We promise to keep improving, striving to offer the absolute best Thai cuisine to our customers. FROM THE OWNER’S HEART

The food has great portions! And absolutely authentic Thai taste!
I ate with my family with 10 ppl and accommodated us accordingly. Service was top notch. Did I mentioned the food tasted absolutely D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!
Must get the garlic chicken! The Masaman curry is good and would try the spicier version for sure. Pad Kra Pao was yummy! The drunken glass noodle was my first time trying this and boy that did not disappoint.
Will come back again!
When we arrived, the host greeted my wife rudely, which immediately set a bad tone. There was a lot of confusion at the front, though we were eventually seated promptly. We ordered spare ribs, tom yum soup, and rice.
The ribs came out first and were tough. When we cut into them, they were still pink in the middle, which is very concerning. We have photos to document this. This is not a small issue, especially because my wife is pregnant. Serving undercooked meat is a serious food safety problem.
On top of that, we waited a long time for the rice and soup and eventually had to ask for them. When the tom yum finally arrived, it was terrible. It had strange vegetables in it and tasted nothing like the tom yum we’ve had here before. The quality was a huge drop from our last visit.
Throughout the meal, the busser kept hovering and repeatedly asking if we were done so he could clear the table. I understand being busy, but constantly watching and rushing customers makes the experience uncomfortable. The host also seemed to look down on us and did not treat us kindly at all.
All we wanted was a good meal and a safe dining experience. Instead, we left frustrated and worried about getting sick. Management seriously needs to address food safety and have their front-of-house staff, especially the host, check their attitude. This visit was unacceptable.
Thank you, Bai Tong Crew!
I told him I was simply asking for the best dishes or house specials, and he rudely replied, If you want to eat, eat. Otherwise, you can leave. I was so disappointed, especially because I was seriously craving Thai food that day.
I asked to speak with the manager, and the same person claimed he was the manager still just as rude. I stayed calm and didn’t engage much, just placed my order.
Now, here’s the twist the food was absolutely delicious! I would give it 5 stars for the taste alone. The ambience was also beautiful and added to the experience. After eating, I genuinely wanted to compliment them on the amazing food but when I tried to share that he looked at me like, “Who cares?”
Since I was in Seattle on vacation, I just wanted to be nice and have a good experience. Unfortunately, the service made me feel really bad. Despite that, I’d still say the food and ambience make this place a must-try in Seattle. I just hope the service improves in the future!
