Bahn Thai was closing in 8 minutes. I called in an order. I live 6 minutes away. I would have made it in time had I ordered from the right location. The owner was going to go to the other location to pick up the meal to bring it to me. And on top of this, the other restaurant stayed open until I arrived, 3 minutes past closing. If for nothing else…5

My first time here. The chili sauce is so good I bought a jar and couldn’t wait to try it on pizza. And it is freakin’ tongue tantalizing. Also a hit on avocado toast.

Yes, I did actually purchase two dishes- vegan Pad Thai with tofu and drunken noodles with beef. The drunken noodles were tasty but sober (dry). I’ve had more inebriated noodles. The beef was tender enough and I have braces.
The Pad Thai was perfectly prepared and seasoned. The tofu was crisp on the outside with seasoning and soft on the inside. Each dish could comfortably feed 2.25 people.

There are other dishes, flavors and spices created here that may be uncommon or not existent in other Thai eateries but highly recommended. Fifth Avenue location is stunningly inviting and open.

Parking is street metered and free 8 pm or later. Yes, 8 not 6 pm. Four spots in front of the restaurant (2 handicapped) (2 pick up orders).

I would suggest this place to tourists and locals

Bahn Thai is good Thai food and there’s really no other way to say it. Each entree is well made, piping hot when served, and the seating is spaciand ample. Be aware that if you order the fire cracker chicken it is VERY hot. A different spice level is used. There is a front patio and somewhat hidden back patio you may discover on the way to the restroom.

Always the most delicious food served to us here. We tend to order the following every time we visit: Tom Kah soup with chicken, crab rangoon and either pineapple fried rice, basil friend rice or one of the specials that they advertise on their chalk board. We have never had a bad dish. The soup is amazing! Order it, you won’t be disappointed.

First time here, and we would go again!

The service was quick even though they were fairly busy. Prices are average for Thai food in this area.

The food itself was good, I had drunken noodles (in photo) and my wife had Pad Thai. Hers was much better than mine.

What I really liked, and this is more uncommon, was how spicy they made it for me! I like my spicy foods to taste like pain and they really came though! I’ve had many other restaurants around that were underwhelming in spicy, no matter how much I requested it.

Another thing is I wish they served you on plates. All they have is plastic to-go containers. Seems wasteful and at this price point (for dining in) a bit under par.

Overall the flavor of my drunken noodles was a bit bland and I wouldn’t order it again but the pad Thai was delicious and we enjoyed the environment of the restaurant and will return!

Simply authentic and delicious.

If you’re looking for one of the best Thai restaurants in San Diego, this place is it. The noodles are cooked to perfection, and there’s a good balance of sweet, salt, spice and acid. The proteins were tender and were melting in my mouth, it’s that good.

It may not look like the portions are big, but trust me, one plate will get you so full. The spice level is also just right. I got a level 2 spice and the dishes were still enjoyable.

I also love the outdoor patio and interior decor. It’s inviting, refreshing and just a great place to hang out, eat and take a break from the sweltering heat.

If you want a great reminder of the beauty of Thai cuisine, this place is it. You won’t regret it.

A friend of mine calls this her favorite Thai spot in all of San Diego. It’s taking me a few years but I finally tried it one afternoon on my way through North Park. It did not disappoint and let me just say I’m sad for all the time I’ve wasted not eating their food
The North Park location currently has outdoor dining & to go, with no inside seating and no bathrooms.

I ordered the chicken satay with a side of steamed veggies, the Tom Ka soup (a hidden gem), and a vegan (yay!!) Thai tea. Phenomenal. They were able to accommodate us in regard to dietary restrictions too. We called ahead to ask about food allergies and cross contact and they took extra caution in preparing the entrees that we ordered without any issues. They were also familiar enough with their menu items to know which items had the allergens we were trying to avoid and offer suggestions of what would work. We appreciate that they are allergy friendly & willing to work with you!!

I’m already planning my next visit!!

Visiting from Belgium.
Outdoor seating in the front and the back. They give it to you as takeaway but you can eat there just not inside.
Friendly staff and the place is quite busy.
It’s not the best Thai I’ve had but it’s good. My biggest complaint is the amount of lettuce and cabbage they put in our dishes. We both ordered our own laab and papaya salad spicy level. Should’ve got the laab spicier but the papaya salad spice level was perfect.

This is the kind of place from which your amazing girlfriend picks up food to try to salvage your meeting-filled 11 hour work day. This is the kind of place that has medium spiciness that’s spicy enough to seem spicy. This is the kind of place that I review.

Food
We got the chicken pad see ew, yellow curry with duck, and the papaya salad. The pad see ew was good. I still haven’t found the best PSE in San Diego, but this is up there. The yellow curry was good and flavorful. I found a bone in the duck, so try to chew your food carefully, you hungry fiend. Anyway, the papaya salad was the aforementioned medium spicy thing but it seemed very spicy to me. Wow wow.

Service
“The cashier was super nice btw” – aforementioned amazing girlfriend

Speed
“And the food was ready in 20 minutes”

Recommend?
Yeah, it’s a solid option.

New (Since January 2020), second location of a popular Thai restaurant in Univeristy Heigts of the same name. It is very nicely decorated, has a few on-site parking spaces, and the same menu with very reasonable prices.

We particularly like the Thai Fried rice (we picked pork) that’s done just right. The portion is generous and there’s so much more pork than your average neighborhood Thai places.

This is my favorite go-to Thai food place. Portions are generous for the price, always hot & fresh, and good service. It’s great they have so many vegan & gluten-free options. It makes it a great place to go for folks with dietary restrictions.
