As KBBQ comes, Baekjeong is a fantastic experience. Parking is easy as it’s directly inside Valley Fair, but it does get incredibly busy so 100% make a reservation here. It feels a step up from most KBBQ places you’ll ever step foot into with a beautiful setting inside and pretty refined wait staff that are well trained and good at cooking the food for you. The biggest drawback we would say is a bit of a peeled back menu selections wise, but the other side of that is what they do have available is some pretty good meat. For our table of 7 we had a bit of a wait beyond our reservation time but were still seated relatively quickly considering how packed the place was. The ordering was quick and soon we were on the way with our experience…

For meats we got the brisket, boneless short rib, and marinated short rib. For sides we got the seafood pancake and seafood soft tofu stew as well as the eggs and cheese corn cooked on our grill. The sides were BIG hits. We must’ve gotten at least 3 refills of the cheese corn alone and another of the egg. Likewise, the meat was very good. If we could rank the meat it would probably be (worst to best) boneless short rib, brisket, marinated short rib. The marinated short rib was easily the best of the three and we wish we didn’t order it as the final meat otherwise we would’ve eaten far, far more of it. Ultimately, Baekjeong is a fun experience elevated by the hands off aspect where you can truly kick back, relax, and eat your food. We would recommend this to people hanging around Valley Fair who are looking to eat some KBBQ and maybe don’t mind the price point it comes in at. This is really a spot for special occasions or nice date nights, less so a casual day, but it is worth every penny as we left happy and very, very full.

Overall the meat here was tasty and the service was good! We asked the server if he recommended the beef belly or brisket and he said it depends on the cut they have that day and actually went to check for us! Boneless short rib and ribeye were great too. Pork belly was good, large intestine was good if you already know you enjoy it.

The banchan was alright, nothing to write home about. But I definitely recommend eating the meat with wasabi and salt at any BBQ place you go to, it’s a super good combo!

Super noisy environment that serves pretty good quality meat. Service was great today.

We ordered a small beef combo for our Valentine’s Day celebration. Here’s my review on each food:

Brisket: very delicious and perfectly cooked. I can eat this every day.

Non-marinated short ribs: an excellent meat that’s marbled. Tasted great at the beginning but has a diminishing marginal utility because of its fattiness.

Marinated short ribs: worst of the three. It’s way too sweet for our liking. It completely masked the taste of the meat itself and I couldn’t help but wonder what would it be like had it not been so overly marinated.

Lunchbox: a pleasant surprise. Deliciously mixed Korean rice. However it came out at room temperature. Not sure if it’s supposed to be like that, but in any case, I’d like it even more if it’s warm.

Soybean stew: too spicy, didn’t ate much of it.

Last but not least, shoutout to our server and chef Anthony G. Great service and skill.

Baekjeong is located at the Westfield Mall next to Santana Row as a stand alone building outside. It appears there is no available elevator at this time so please note for those that cannot climb a flight of stairs or if you have small children. Even with an early reservation, we were asked to wait with no particular sense of urgency. After nearly 10 minutes, we were taken to the many open tables. While we were off to a rocky start, things quickly improved. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful to those of us that were new to the Korean bbq dining process. For the uninitiated, you will come to the table full of small dishes of dipping sauces, pickled vegetables, rice paper sheets, and already cooking on the grill, corn and cheese. This is all included as a part of any meal. Our waiter recommended we order one of the combos so we got a small marinated meats combo and then we added on the eight piece fried dumplings. Holy moley, was that a lot of food! For two people, we definitely didn’t need the fried dumplings but they were delicious. They say a small combo is good for 2-3 people. I’d say more 3-4, unless you’re feeding bottomless-pit teenagers. Needless to say, a lot of food. The combo comes with rice and a stew (we picked the spicy kimchi) and that is on top of the five different meat cuts. The combo was delicious and great flavors – our waiter cooked the meat exactly to our liking. We definitely didn’t need two rices with everything else we had going on, but otherwise our food was great. We had zero idea if there was an order or combination of how to pair all the meats and side sauces, but we made it work and had fun with it. Pacing was a little fast but it seems that that’s the vibe during your meal. Slow to great, but solid finish.

*also note on the last photo- the window glass was absolutely filthy and gave us the ick when we first sat down.

Service: the staff is very friendly and they help you grill everything to perfect as well!

Food: I went with my girly, and we ordered the combo S Hondae favorite. The portion is enough and with good quality of meats, soup and rice. It was a pity that no lettuce comes with the set as a typical Korean style. The japchae we order on the side is a really huge portion.

Ambiance: chic and clean. Never understand why Korean BBQ restaurants never have a range hood, and finally found one here! Good for all sizes of parties, but definitely not suitable to have quality conversations due to the noise.

Been to Baekjeong a few times due to the latest AMEX plat refresh for resy.

First meal, we ordered:
combo small beef with rib eye $103
lychee fresh add ketel $14
moscow mule $16

Had a reservation. Super backed up the day we went so was significantly later. Drink also didn’t have alcohol so we had to send it back.

Service is really slow in general (from the times we’ve been). Staff could be a bit more attentive and proactive.

Meat quality is definitely good here. However, for the value, if I didn’t have the AMEX credit, I’m not sure I would try them out with the wait and service issues.

BUT, with the AMEX credit, if you need a decent meal and don’t mind some wait, this is a good spot!

Overall, 3.5 star experience, but rounding up to 4!

Parking in the garage…obviously could be difficult with Valley Fair.

Been here a few times and overall, it is solid. Just make sure you make reservations ahead of time because it can get really busy here for dinner.

We’ve had the Hodong’s favorite combo and the small is plenty of food between me and my husband. One of our favorite items to get is the brisket cast iron fried rice. We usually are too full to finish the fried rice but it’s great as leftovers. I would also recommend the beef tartare. It’s one of the few places around here that I think makes it well.

The two servers we’ve had that made our last 2 visits enjoyable were Billy and Phat. They were attentive to the food and cooked the meats well. Phat refilled our rice paper and checked on us if we were slowing down our pace with eating. We once had a server who cleared the meat off the grill and threw it away instead of putting the meat to the side. She was distracted with some other customer but that was still a big turn off during my first visit here.

The price is a little higher for kbbq but I think its worth it for the quality and quantity for the combo sets, and just having someone else cook for you. Just remember to dip your meat in the salt and sauces.

We usually come during a weekday lunch and it’s usually not as crowded as Saturday lunch.
Today was Saturday lunch and we expected a little wait. I made my family wait 1hr (party of 6 at 1130am) because I was craving my favorite seafood pancake. They usually have THE best pancake with a crunchy layer on top. Today that wasn’t the case… it was burnt on top and didn’t have the addicting crunchy layer.
I’m not the type to give back food- it was still edible and times are tough I’m not wasting food.
The meat quality is still 10/10- we always order the beef combo with boneless short ribs and kimchi stew.
Service was good when they were around but a little slow. We got our seafood pancake and Kim chi stew pretty late in the meal.

TLDR: I made my family wait for a seafood pancake that was burnt and didn’t have the best crunchy layer on top. Spent over $300z Only picture I have of my pancake was the left over I took home.

Good quality meat and banchans. The kimchi stew on the side was also very good. It’s usually pretty busy so try to reserve ahead of time. Pretty pricey for what you get though, especially quantity wise, but a decent alternative if you’re craving kbbq and don’t want to stink up your place.

Great meat quality and extremely friendly service. The unmarinated short rib and brisket were my favorites. Preferred the beef more than the pork in general. Seafood pancake was unique with crispy noodly bits and a strong seafood flavor. The kimchi and soybean stews were also very nice.

Large restaurant that was able to accommodate our gathering full of kids/babies. Looking forward to come back.
