We found this spot when driving through Tallahassee and so glad we did. Next drive though we will stop by again for sure. The outside is a bit rustic and might seem a little confusing when first pulling up to the gravel parking and some open gardening. However when you get inside it is very garden/farm comfy. The decode is clean and welcoming the dining room is lovely.
The staff are super friendly, efficient, and quick to respond.
We ordered the crayfish bites app, kids chicken tenders, truffle & tuna sandwich and the crab cake stack. All were absolutely delightful! The chicken was cooked well and was wonderfully crispy. The crab bisque is very light and refreshing for a bisque. The tuna sandwich was quite large and very filling. The crab cakes did not come with a traditional salad but the meal was very filling and flavorful.
We really enjoyed our lunch.

5 stars! This place is fantastic. Delicious food and drinks, great prices for the quality of ingredients, and cool vibes. Servers were very friendly and had local suggestions for visitors. Daily happy hour specials were great. I had the portobello burger and could taste every ingredient. The spinach, artichoke, feta stuffing was SOOO good. Only negative was that the mushroom was about half the size of the bun, but otherwise, chef’s kiss!

Backwoods Crossing is truly next-level farm-to-table dining. Not only do they source local fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and wine from local producers, they also grow much of it themselves and that commitment to sustainability and quality is evident in every detail of the experience.
During the day, guests can wander through the beautiful gardens, visit the chicken and turkey pens, or relax on the front porch and enjoy a meal. Inside, the vibe is warm, relaxed, and effortlessly charming, with a rustic, farm-inspired aesthetic that feels both welcoming and intentional. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel connected to the land and the people behind the food.
One of the things we love most is that the menu changes with the seasons, reflecting what’s fresh and available on the farm. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted and incredibly fresh. Every bite was delicious, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into each dish. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. Backwoods Crossing is a must- visit for anyone who appreciates outstanding food, sustainability, and a beautiful, authentic setting.

This place is so beyond delicious. We came for lunch and I had the caprese panini with Brie and added bacon. That was on another level of oh so good. I upgraded to the cheese grits for my side and they were the best grits I’ve ever had! I grew up on grits, so I have had my fair share. They were so creamy and perfectly cooked. My husband had the lamb chops which he really enjoyed. We both decided to have dessert. I had the chocolate tiramisu which was good, but was very rich. My husband had the bread pudding… It wasn’t his favorite, but he enjoyed it. Maybe not the spot for dessert but the food here is fresh and fabulous. It’s located on a mini farm and garden and they let you walk the property. That was a pleasant experience in itself. I highly recommend this place. I can’t imagine you being disappointed. It is on the higher priced side, but you’re paying for quality and the taste proves it.

We had an amazing experience at Backwoods Crossing! From start to finish, everything was spot-on. We started with the charcuterie board, and it was absolutely awesome — a perfect mix of textures and flavors, beautifully presented, and big enough to share. You could really tell they put thought into every piece on that board.
The Old Fashioneds were top-notch — smooth, well-balanced, and made just right. You can tell the bartenders take pride in their craft, which made the drinks feel a little extra special.
For the main course, I went with the Hen House dish, and it was hands-down one of the best things I’ve had in a while. The flavors came together perfectly, the chicken was cooked just right, and the whole dish had this comforting, hearty vibe that made it feel like an elevated version of classic southern cooking.
We finished with the cheesecake, and honestly, it was — rich, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal.
The whole atmosphere at Backwoods Crossing just hits right — relaxed but still classy, great service, and you can tell everyone on staff really cares about what they’re serving. Definitely one of those places where you leave already planning your next visit.

I only had the deviled egg on a bed of collards appetizer. The collards were delicious. The eggs were okay. They could have used some mayo or relish maybe to flavor them up. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. I’ll try to go back some day to try more of their fresh, homegrown veggies.

Being awesome. A little pricey but well with it. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. The food came fairly quick and went beyond delicious. The catfish was excellent with the collards and pork. The crab cakes were amazing.

Great portion sizes with strong flavors. No wonder the place made it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! For those wondering: Season 50, Episode 12. Great stop on the outer parts of Tallahassee for a savory meal. The place itself also sports a wonderful greenhouse at the entrance with complementary seed packs to take home. Overall great experience, atmosphere, and service.

If you’re reading this, do it!! Amazing FTT restaurant and the gardens are beautiful. Our server Brandon was very helpful and attentive, the food was off the charts (didn’t get pictures because once we started eating we couldn’t stop) and they killed it with the drinks 10/10 will be back!
