We visited Backwoods Family Dining on 10/15/2022. We had no issues. We were seated immediately, and our server was promptly with us to provide menus and take drink orders. Our meals came quickly. The food was excellent. My husband felt the portions were a bit small. They have some reasonably priced items on the menu, but there are some costly ones as well. Husband had the chicken Oscar and he was disappointed that the chicken was a little tough and dry on the ends (but he still gave it an ‘A’). I had the chicken fried steak (OH MY!).
Both meals came with a small salad, not just iceberg, and two sides. My mashed potatoes were cold, but they had put the chicken fry on top and that part was warm. The jalapeño cream corn was magnificent. We had the seafood spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer and that will really impress you.
We took home pumpkin cheesecake of the month. Very good experience and we will certainly go back. (Husband was impressed with the game room.)

Overall, a nice clean venue. The folks who run the place (Amanda and Ryan) have made some really nice changes to the venue. The menu is still somewhat limited but the food IS really good. Portion control is great and, for the most part, pricing is fair. No desserts on the menu so BYO Birthday cake or whatever. Maybe this will change with time. Service was efficient and professional. They had a few screens at the bar if you want to watch a game and a game room in the back to entertain the kids. They’ve added pool tables (only 50 cents a game!!), a karaoke set-up.
Weekends are really hopping and I have yet to walk in and not found a line at the bar. They’ve got Bingo on Friday, Karaoke on Saturday, and Pool tournaments on Sunday. Worth your time to check it out!

Rude people everywhere. Bartender was rude. We got three drinks and a rice crispy treat, ended up being $28. Will not return.
They do not have any other desserts so the photos we saw of the “4 hour pudding” was what were were really hoping for and they said “we haven’t done that in like…forever”.

We drove by, and I saw the open sign was on for this place that said family dining under a title of Backwoods. How do you pass that up just before 8pm with 2 more hours to drive? When we walked in, I was shocked by the amount of open space, the corn hole setup inside, the nicely appointed bar, and then the host who arrived within 30 seconds to seat us. While walking to our table, we continued to be amazed by the skylights, the glimpse of an arcade in the back, the cleanliness of everything. Within 3 minutes, our drinks were on the table and our appetizer order put in with the kitchen. Our server, Kennedy, was amazing!! She came back and asked if we were ready to order yet or wanted to wait until the appetizer came out, options not typically consideredat many larger establishments. We went ahead and ordered the bacon cheeseburger and Hannah bowl for our meals. The dirty nachos arrived a few minutes later and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of well seasoned brisket, and the proper attention to detail with tons not just clumped in one place. Within 10 minutes of ordering, our food was out, hot and expertly prepared. There were 3 of us, and we still took home leftovers after stuffing ourselves with food. Thank you, Kennedy, kitchen staff, and owners for an amazing dinner and 5 star service!!!

I had the one meat plate with Brisket, House Salad with Ranch dressing , and Smoked Jalapeño Creamed Corn. My Husband had the two meat plate with the Brisket and Smoked Turkey, Baked Potato and Smoked Jalapeño Creamed Corn. The Baked Potato was not overcooked, it was perfect with just Butter, salt and pepper.
The Ranch dressing was excellent, the House Salad was very fresh. I omitted the croutons and slivered red onions, had I known the red onions would be so thinly slivered, I would have them on my salad. I especially appreciated how the ingredients were separated into neat and colorful pockets of color on the salad plate. That gives the diner a free-hand in personally tossing their own salad, and to hold back on an ingredient.
Service was very attentive, she had a nice smile and good eye contact, she made us feel comfortable through our questions and requests.
The room is dimly-lit, and though we chose to sit in a booth between two other couples at booths, there was a quiet and calmness among the diners, no loudness of conversation. We enjoyed our dinner date with an intimacy not often found in restaurants.

We tried this as a new restaurant in the area. Normally when a new local place opened its packed and expected to be a long wait while they work out the bugs. Ordered and waited for near an hour for the food when there was a 4 total tables of ppl. The waitress was attentive checking on us 6 times (due to the length of wait) and getting refills. idk how long it had been sitting in the kitchen but when we got the food it was cold salty over cooked and dry. These were both supposed to have brioche buns with aioli. But the brioche bun was burnt, I specifically asked for no onions got an onion roll, and neither had any dressing on the bun. My wife had to ask for a side of ranch b/c it was so dry. We left the fries due to way too much salt and they were cold/hard. We quickly ate it b/c it was 2 $20 burgers and waited for the check as we had errands to run. The waitress asked how it was and my wife said “ok” and she responded “well I hope you come back.” Now like I said normally I would let it go and try it later down the road. But my wife posted on a community board about the experience. We even said the service was good. Our waitress responded that we did not tell her and that we bashed them without allowing them to fix the problem. That we “devoured” (6’2″ 250 lbs) the food. Normally I don’t create a scenes, send back food (long work history in the food industry), demand any special treatment, or ask for a manager. But this was unprofessional and gives the impression that if you share your experiences publicly the staff will personally attack while representing the biz. The correct way to handle this would have been “we are sorry this didn’t meet your expectations let us make this right.” Then I would have updated my review detailing how they addressed this. To be clear I have no issue paying more for higher quality food, great service, or larger portions. But this wasn’t any of those. Unfortunately I believe we are out. Not recommend.

This place is absolutely fantastic! I will say that it takes a minute to get your food but when you do you’ll be glad you waited. Pretty much everything is hand crafted so it’s no wonder it takes a bit, plus they just opened about 3 weeks ago. I had the chicken sandwich and my father had the stephenvilly/Philly. Both meals came out fresh and falling off the sides of the plate. Waffle fries were delicious and so were both of our sandwiches. Backwoods has been filling up and it seems like people are loving it as much as we did. They also have a game room on the end with pretty new game systems. I was really impressed and to be honest didn’t expect much before entering.
Update : So I’ve been to Backwoods a few times now and wanted to share my last visit. I ordered the bragwood sandwich and received the Backwoods Burger. The waitress admitted it was a mistake on their behalf and tried to take it back to have them make me a new meal. The person I was with was already eating and I didn’t want to wait 20 to 30 more minutes that we already did to get our food. I told the waitress that it was fine and mistakes happen, I’ll eat it. The waitress told me she was sorry and would at least comp the meal for me and I told her that would be perfect. This burger comes with a donut bun and barbecue sauce which I would typically never order, but to keep things simple I figured I would eat it and try something new. Upon receiving our ticket I seen that I was charged for it. I looked up at the waitress and she said “i’m sorry they are making me charge you since you ate it” I shook my head in disbelief. I knew it wasn’t her fault so I paid, tipped and left. I felt like this should be mentioned because all I have done is raved about this place to other people who have complained. Management should have never put this waitress in that position and should have handled it themselves.
