This is up there as all time best breakfast I’ve ever had: Gator n’ Waffles! Curry waffles to be precise. Atmosphere was incredible with the gator skull chandelier. Chef Mike made a killer menu for Backwater, anyone in the area shouldn’t hesitate to grab breakfast or lunch from this joint

Always looking forward to a new brunch spot with some type of new experiences whether that’s the food, people, or atmosphere. All in all this place did a great job of capturing FLORIDA from the gator chandelier to the gator food. Also, capturing FLORIDA fun environment very interactive and family fun. Actually, you get to make your own pancakes on the grill you do get a colorful rainbow pancake option also great for kids. Therefore, I did end up ordering their seasonal pancake batter which this time was their ginger snap pancakes which was in season it brought warmth and a Christmas morning hot coco sensation. Yes, I love food so I did end up ordering The Boss Hog which felt like I was eating a southern breakfast meal it included ( provelone stuffed rope sausage atop balsamic onions, cheese grits loaded with bacon and green onions, served in a skillet and finished with one sunny side up egg) sounds like a mouth full but there was flavor in every bite. I did order The Hambone Benny which ( thick cut bone-in ham steak served with two peached eggs with hollandaise atop ciabatta bread with your choice of home fries or grits) protein filled and nicely plated

Backwater’s food selection is decent. The kids love being able to make their own pancakes. However they can never turn those griddles off so they’re emitting heat the entire experience. I got the fried tomato appetizer and they pretty unseasoned and flavorless. However the chicken and waffles were perfect! Overall I’d go back but would probably skip the griddle top.

I just moved to the area and I think this might be my favorite new breakfast spot. Creative flavors and amazing mimosas! I had the Fried Green Tomatoe and spinach eggs Benedict with the black cherry grits and my husband had the pork reuban. Both were delicious but I had a bite of my husband’s sandwhich and it was incredible. Can’t wait to go back and try all the things!

We’ve been here many times and it’s always been great! The servers are attentive and the food is fresh. Get there early or late, because in the middle you’ll wait. The ambiance is fun, it can get a little loud but not overwhelming. We love all the decor and “Old Florida” vibes. The most fun part in my opinion is that everything is sourced from Florida. Get the mimosa flight!

We were impressed. Atmosphere was darling. Service was very attentive and nice. We sat at a griddle table but we weren’t anticipating using it. Changed our minds and went for the seasonal apple cinnamon pancakes, which were really great. Also ordered the biscuit and gravy, again really great. I’m fairly picky about gravy and this had good flavor. Coffee was good, and the water tasted good as well. Usually restaurant water tastes like it came
from a hose, which I have to mask with a lemon wedge. The only thing we didn’t love was the fried green tomatoes, the breading tasted stale. We will go back to this place, really enjoyed and the prices were reasonable too. Breakfast for 2 was $26 and change, for coffee, pancakes, biscuit w/gravy and the fried green tomatoes.

The food was really good. The decor is really cute. Our server was nice but didn’t come back enough. The music was way too loud it made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. I would definitely come back if it wasn’t so loud.
