The subs we ordered were good. Boarshead meat was excellent, but it took a full hour to make 2 sandwiches.
They wouldn’t give us iced tea because they didn’t want to make any (and told us so).
We ordered chips with the sandwiches, but they forgot to put them in the bag. It was a picnic lunch to be eaten on the BRP, so we didn’t know until we arrived at the picnic (an hour late) that the chips were missing.
The 3 people behind the counter were working diligently to get orders out, but it was obvious that phone orders were given priority over waiting customers.
A word of wisdom, should you choose to eat there, call your order in before you go. WAY before you go.

I stopped in to pick up a sandwich for dinner, not realizing it was right before closing time. Even though the grill had been cut off and cleaned, they found a way to accommodate me. A family owned local business never sends you away hungry. Don’t try that in a chain restaurant or you’ll be disappointed. Plus their sandwiches are delicious, the meat is cut to order and the staff are super friendly!

I dropped the ball on food planning for my daughter’s 15th Birthday party because I was focused on the cake and decor and making sure everything else was perfect. On the day of the party I googled catering in West Jefferson and Backstreet Subs popped up, I called them at 11:30 and asked if she could make two platters (40 subs) by 3:00pm and she made it happen. I regret not getting her name but I’m forever grateful for you dropping everything just for my order. The subs were great and everyone complimented them. Thanks again!

Our family has been twice. This time I ordered a colossal hot dog and it was very good but the cheese was frozen with ice on it. The grilled cheese looked a little burnt. Otherwise everyone else seemed happy . My dad did say he ordered hot sandwich and it came cold.
Sadly I think there are better places to eat in West Jefferson but they were really sweet and nice!

Placed a to-go order, picked up order and wrong sub. Called them and girl said, “oh well you can bring it back untouched and we’ll just throw it away and it’ll take about 15 minutes to make you a new sub.” I drove over to the place, same girl met me at register and I requested a refund, her response….”oh I don’t know how to do that and I can’t just refund one sub off of the order.” I said how long will it take to make the correct sub and she turned around and had the other girl make a sub (took less than 3 minutes) so I asked her why she told me it would take 15 minutes to correct the mistake to begin with? She said, “well you were calling on the phone and we had other orders.” No I’m sorry, no I’ll refund you, no I’ll make it correct, no I’d be happy to satisfy you as the customer! Won’t eat there again!!!
