I have never had a bad experience here, however today they were out of their risotto and fettuccine. No big deal, substitutions are available. My soda tasted weird, so I asked for a replacement. But then when my food came out there was something hidden under the cheese on top of my pasta. At first glance I thought it was a spider. In hindsight I am hoping it was just shrimp legs. But with the intentional plating of the shrimp, and the fact that they had no legs on them, I have to think that was placed there on purpose which makes me a bit uncomfortable.
Sad to have had a poor experience here.

This incredible place is tucked away next to an old vintage theatre. Branded, i would assume, with the theatre in mind, but this place seriously stands on its own! The food, the old world vibe, and our host were perfect.

Phenomenal experience, this place is a real hidden gem. I had the rabbit with mashed potatoes, they were unbelievably good. The mashed potatoes were surreal, not exaggerating. Big thank you to the two ladies working front of the house (and to the folks in the back of course!) as it was quite busy and they managed splendidly. I actually forgot my leftovers box and one of the employees chased me down the block to give it to me. Very sweet of her. It was an excellent experience, we will absolutely be back.

My son-in-law and my daughter were here 8 months ago. They loved the food. So when my guy came into town to visit, it was recommended to come here for for good spaghetti. I had the Shrimp Pomodoro and he had spaghetti and meatballs. I loved the music, the decor, and Sarah and the young guy assisting her were just wonderful. I have lived in Longview just over 7 years. This has become my second favorite place.

We are from out of town and came here on date night not knowing what to expect. We had such a great experience with the food and people! We had the Mediterranean pizza (that sourdough crust!) and the bruschetta. Both items were so delicious. We added on a bottle of the house red and it was so yummy. There is so much thought that goes into everything. We can’t wait to bring my family here to dine and watch a movie in their spectacular theater next door. Thanks for an amazing experience, Backstage Cafe!

Solid four 1/2 stars! Sarah was our server and she was delightful. The interior is small and quaint. I’d suggest that you arrive before peak hours to get a table. We enjoyed everything that we ordered (see photos) and had a lovely time at this establishment.

We had an awesome Valentine’s Day dinner at the Backstage Cafe! We enjoyed a wonderful 4 course meal served in true European style with several newfound friends. We had the Roasted Branzino Bass for 2. Others had the Reverse Sear Tomahawk Steak. The chef came out at intervals and explained some of the dishes, which made it special. Thank you Backstage for a fantastic event!

We dine here last night. Half the items on the menu were not available. I wanted their wonderful baseball size meatball in spaghetti sauce on the only pasta available. What arrived was spaghetti broken in half and hard to fork without getting it all over me. The “sauce” was shopped up whole tomatoes, carrots, onions without herbs or spices and tasteless. The 2 walnut size meatballs, that I had to pay $5 extra for, had no sauce on them & were so hard I couldn’t cut them in half. It seemed they either had freezer burn or overcooked in the microwave. I ask for a refund on the meatballs & their staff wouldn’t. I asked to talk to the owner, who we know, but he was unavailable. We will not be returning.

First time trying Backstage! I did the La Tua Pasta which is a build your own. I chose the alfredo sauce with fettuccine noodles and chicken for the protein. I also requested the add a small bit of pesto into the alfredo sauce. Pasta was good quality and thicker than something you’d get store bought which I really enjoyed. As a group we split the meatball appetizer (didn’t get a photo) which was also really delicious and came with a side of naan flatbread and freshly shaved cheese for a vessel for the meatballs. Can’t wait to go back to try more dishes here. My only complaint would be having to request salt or pepper instead of having it readily available on the table. I don’t normally add salt to my food but the alfredo sauce could use a dash to bring it up a notch. Over all really delicious and can’t believe I waited so long to try this place. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about the food here!
