This is the best gluten free pizza in the SW Wa area. We ordered a veg gluten free pizza, no olives and add peperoni…house salad, tap root beer, and a tap pear cider. We also requested a gf brownie to go. We haven’t been able to try the brownie yet as the pizza was so filling.

The cheese is fresh and the toppings were perfect. The sauce is on the light side, which is how I like it. The crust could use some herbs, but the texture soft and much better than the cracker jack served at many places for gf needs. The pepperoni is high quality. The mushrooms were good and not canned, as many places serve. All the veg was fresh.

The house salad has sweet peppers, pickled red onion, parm, and a slice of lemon, which made the flavors pop, upon squeezing over the high quality lettuce.

We ended up taking home a third of the pizza as we couldn’t finish it all (guessing 12-14″).

The ambiance is black leather and wood bench seats and walls. There are local artists displayed on the walls with QR codes to find out more.

You order at the counter and then they seat you. We arrived right after a large group took over all thier center space tables and were lucky enough to get seated quickly. They have merchandise and a decorated corner to wait for a table to free up.

I love that they have a seperate prep space for gf. I am suffering no signs of crossing contamination and I get sick with shared fryer oil.

Parking can be iffy There is plenty, right putside the door, but this is also a very popular spot, as well as multiple great, local spots with the four square block area. You may have to walk a couple of blocks.

Of note, is was comfortably warm inside on a freezing cold, damp, pouring rain night.

I highly recommend Backpacker pizza and hope they continue to be popular and succesful.

Small pizzeria and pub environment. Counter service with plenty of tables and booths to choose from. 4 outdoor tables on the sidewalk.
They are very focused on the taste and quality of the food. They designed and make their own Ranch dressing in house. All other food offerings are all hand made in house as well. The Poblano Carnitas was good, but beware if you are not into spicy.
Cost of a glass of tap beer was $8 reg price.
Attentive server very knowledgeable about the food was nice for a change.
Happy hour is 2-4.
Looking forward to trying other things in the future.

We needed Gluten Free for some in our group and Backpacker Pizza did not disappoint! They have 3 more families as fans! Everything we got was delicious and gobbled up. Our group was so grateful for the delicious GF options.

The braised lamb pasta was full of meat and had great texture and taste. The pizzas were all beautiful, fresh, and tasty. Nice to know they have vegan cheese as well. But the dessert by Sugar and Spiess took the cake so to speak! Wow! Still cannot believe it was Vegan.

Lots of beverages with lots on tap! The lemonade is not your regular lemonade so kids may not appreciate it, but adults sure do! They were so kind to make sure we were happy. Thank you!

The service was on point even though they were slammed due to a busy downtown First Friday. It was a 45min wait!

Parking is ample, but when it’s busy, it’s luck of the draw. They have patio and indoor seating. Clean restrooms.

Prices are a little higher, but they seem to use quality ingredients. The pizza is a good size for 2-3 depending on appetite. We also liked the fact that they gave a military discount.

Highly recommend!

The service is fast, informative, and insightful. The atmosphere has a chill vibe and everything always seems to be clean, organized, and well maintained. The food is incredible. All of the pizzas are worth a shot at trying and finding your favorite. The roasting pasta was a show stopper and changed my entire outlook on backpacker. We split the pizza and pasta and were very happy!

Absolutely loved this place! The service was great, and the food exceeded our expectations. My mom and I came in for lunch and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. We both ordered gluten-free pizzas, which were delicious, and my mom also tried one of their pasta dishes and was really impressed.

To top it off, we were given a complimentary gluten-free brownie as they’re testing a new dessert and it was phenomenal! We’re already looking forward to coming back.

What a delight! We eat pizza every Friday and have tried them all in the Portland Metro Area – and are now figuring out how to include a 40 minute drive to Camas to our weekly routine. Such friendly staff (both professionally engaging and went the extra friendly mile), really great drink selection, nice balance of chewy and fluffy crust, impeccable Caesar salad…truly no notes!

We had a very tasty Supreme pizza with a house salad large enough to share. Both very fresh and perfectly prepared. Very clean dining room with friendly people working here. Nice beer and wine selection too. Menu has many more interesting things to try. Definitely will be our new favorite pizza place in Camas.

Their Caprese pizza hit the spot big time. The crust is perfect- thin on the bottom with a nice handle/bready ending. Great service and always good to support a local business 🙂 Highly recommend.

This pizza is divine. I’ve tried all the places in this area and none come close! I hesitated to go for a long time due to the price, but now I understand why the price is higher. Everything is SO high quality. The GOAT pizza is genuinely one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had (if you like the ingredients on it, you will not regret it). Another equally unique and excellent pizza is the potato prosciutto; the potato wasn’t very noticeable to me but the fig dressing definitely is. The GOAT is savory and salty, the Potato pizza is sweet. The pineapple pizza is also great. The ceasar salad was hearty and a great size!

I love pizza and the offerings at Backpacker Pizza have been some of the best pizza I’ve ever had! I went there three times recently, tried something different each time and was so impressed each time! So many choices for toppings and all have been delicious! The crust, also so tasty, great flavor! Many drink choices! The kids have loved the chocolate chip cookies and brownies that have accompanied the kids pizzas. My wife is gluten free and dairy free and she was so impressed by the thorough explanations of the protocols they use to prevent gluten and dairy cross contamination and the easily accessible GF/DF info on the website. Thank you Backpacker, you’re awesome!!!
