A Hidden Gem in Lovettsville, Virginia

If you ever ride or drive through the quiet roads of Northern Virginia and find yourself near the last little town before crossing into Maryland, make sure you stop at Back Street Brews in Lovettsville.

This charming small-town café feels like something out of a postcard. The outdoor seating, rustic wooden chairs, and peaceful country road views make it the perfect motorcycle stop. After a long ride, this place truly hits different and honestly the ride paid off all the way.

The Food

The quiche sandwich was absolutely delicious flaky, buttery crust with a rich and flavorful filling that tasted fresh and homemade. Every bite had that perfect balance of crisp pastry and soft, savory center. Simple, traditional, and done right.

☕ The Coffee

Their signature traditional cappuccino was amazing. Perfect foam, smooth espresso, and just the right warmth on a cool Virginia morning. Not too strong, not too light just balanced and comforting.

The Vibe

Back Street Brews gives you that peaceful small-town energy. It feels like the “last town of Virginia” before you roll on to the next state quiet streets, friendly atmosphere, and a relaxing patio to sit back and enjoy the moment.

If you’re riding through Lovettsville, this café is 100% worth the stop. Great coffee, great food, and the kind of place that makes the journey even more memorable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A perfect motorcycle reward stop.

After a long riding. We needed some nice cold drink. We found this spot and we were so glad. We rode here. Ice coffee was very nice and I had to go and get another ice matcha. We got one pastry which also very nice. It was caramel pistachio pastry. Inside the cafe decorated in a warm and cozy vibes.

Can be a little tricky to get to because of one way roads. Nice staff, pretty good drinks and really good pastries. I’d recommend the chocolate chip cookie croissant. Plenty of seating and little alcoves to sit in. Local art is located all over the place so keep your eyes on the walls.

A Hidden Gem in Lovettsville
Backstreet Brews is a Must-Visit!

What a fantastic find Backstreet Brews is in Lovettsville! This place is a true hidden gem that absolutely exceeds all expectations.
From the moment you step inside, you’re wrapped in such a cozy and warm atmosphere.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, which just makes your visit even more delightful. I loved seeing how they support the local community, displaying artwork from local artists and showcasing their products—it really gives the place a unique and authentic touch.

The decor is a visual treat: an eclectic and tastefully done mix of antique and modern furniture that creates a truly special vibe. There are plenty of intimate spaces, perfect for relaxing and unwinding.

And the food… it’s simply spectacular! I highly recommend making the trip with your partner to enjoy a delicious coffee with one of their vanilla and chocolate chip muffins. It’s worth every minute of the drive!

Backstreet Brews isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s an experience. If you’re in Lovettsville, or even if you’re just planning a day trip, this place is a definite must-stop!

It was quiet when we came.
It’s kind of a unique place to have coffee, but they offer more than coffee.
There were also teas, smoothies, and ice cream.

Their pastries were good, but the coffee, latte, and cappuccino were not as strong as we would like to.

Looking for a good coffee shop on the way back from the temple hall Pumpkin patch and found this coffee shop. Dropped in before 6 pm their closing time. The counter staff very politely informed we are about to close, confirmed our cappuccino, lattes, cold coffee and snacks, then out looking for the restroom found out, doors to be locked from both side, it’s clean. The seating area got a unique antique atmosphere. Shortage of time can’t enjoy that ambiance, come prepared it’s worth. Got the order delivered out to car. Free parking at back side

I’d really love to give this place 5 stars because I’m soooo grateful Lovettsville has a coffee shop. But! Every time we go my family and I feel there’s a lot left to be desired. The house itself is super cute and the young kids who work there are usuallyyy very friendly. I just wish they’d offer a couple more craft or healthy options. What they have comes off a bit fast food than craft coffee shop (Torani syrups, bottled fruit purees for smoothies – so bad for you, microwaved premade / pre assembled food, no actually healthy or GF options). The vibe of the shop is a little cold, too.. I’d love to go do work there but the sitting area doesn’t fully hit the *cozy* coffee shop ambiance that they’re trying to do. It’s so close to being cozy it’s just missing the mark as-is. A bit dark and cold and cluttered. Maximalism is an art! A little more attention to detail and creativity would level this place up!! Maybe a couple homemade syrups, real fruit in the smoothies, fresh ingredients, training on correct craft barista skills, nitro cold brew, declutter the layout, warmer lighting in the back, funky art, etc, etc. Just a couple suggestions from a coffee shop snob / retired barista that wants to spend money here 🙂

Quaint and a bit old fashioned, so it smells a bit musty, but it rather a spacious place to go get coffee and quiet to get work done. It’s been quite difficult for me to find a good work space, especially in NoVA, and this is quite a long way from the city. However, it’s quiet and spacious with outlets for you to use.
Lots of paintings and decorative furniture. I came in on a 9 AM Friday, and it wasn’t too busy at that point. The busy point is usually around 7-9 though.
Lavender iced latte was pretty standard but you can taste the lavender. I feel that a lot of coffee shops will make their Lavender latte too sweet, but theirs isn’t too sweet at all, and you can adjust as needed.

Great coffee, extremely cute cafe. Had a good croissant, latte, espresso, and muffin. Sat outside in the sun listening to birds. Definitely a place to stop by!
