I feel like people don’t know what the Korean BBQ tastes like, they don’t have the Korean chili paste, or Korean side dishes and the dessert looks like Chinese buffet-style jelly dessert.
I have ordered squid, but the dish ended up feeling more like a hotpot squid and no flavor, It was also a different kind of squid than I expected.
We also order the brown rice cake, but had an dirty oily taste, like it may have been cooked in the same oil as fries, bubble tea inside is jello, I prefer boba. I hope the restaurant can improve this.
The price is reasonable. I enjoyed the pork belly and the fries were good. Overall, it was okay, nothing too bad, but nothing amazing either.

I’ve been to Backstreet twice now, and both visits were really enjoyable. The food is great, with a wide variety of options, and the sauce bar is excellent. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful.
One thing I wish they had—like some other Korean BBQ and hotpot places—is an iPad system where you can easily keep track of what you’ve ordered and what you still want to try. That would make the experience even smoother.
The wait staff, however, more than made up for it. They were attentive, friendly, and really on top of things both times we visited. The atmosphere is also a standout—the decor is modern and fun, with a really unique light feature in the center that gives off smoke, adding to the vibe. The music kept the energy high too, with all Korean pop songs, including some of the newer hits my daughter loved hearing.
Overall, Backstreet is a great spot for Korean BBQ in Milwaukee, and I’ll definitely keep coming back.

Second time there and we celebrated our 1 year anniversary. The service was super friendly and welcoming! The food was fantastic, again! The food was so good I forgot to take a before picture but here’s an after. The food comes super fast like I literally stood up to make my sauce and came back and saw all my food at my table. Madison was super friendly and super attentive with the tables being smaller she made sure to keep them clear. If I could give this 10 stars I would! I will fs be returning!!!

This place is absolutely phenomenal. We walked in to find a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful furnishings, and our server was attentive and very knowledgeable. The food was so delicious, our whole table became quiet once the meal started. I have been to this place a few times, and each time has been memorable. I now take all of my out-of-town friends here when they visit Milwaukee. This is hands-down my favorite place in the city.

This place is great, and the food was fantastic. The meats and veggies were sliced and prepared beautifully, which made cooking them myself easy and set us up for success. Flavors of grilled marinated meats and the savory broth were rich and tasty, needing little extra seasoning at all. There were well over a dozen choices in meats, plus offal, and lots of fresh seafood. The sauce bar, complete with suggested recipes, means everyone can tailor the flavors to their own preference. The service was friendly and attentive – our grill was replaced and re-oiled several times, and more broth was on offer. Drinks were great too, if a little pricey – the mango smoothie and mai tai were both tasty, and the taro boba was floral, lovely, and quite purple. Next to the sauce bar is a dessert bar full of fruits, pastries, and a delicious custard. It’s 2 hours of all-you-can-eat fun for the whole family, and the pricing is really very reasonable for what you get – I was delighted at the quality! Can’t wait to come back – maybe I’ll book the private party room next time and bring some friends!

However, when the waiter eventually came over, they had an attitude that was a bit disappointing. During the wait, we were not offered any water or acknowledgment.
The salad bar was nice, and the appetizer was enjoyable enough. However, the sauce bar and salad bar were very compact, and with multiple people around, the space felt tight and somewhat unorganized. The food was okay, but I’ve definitely had better. Unfortunately, the service stood out the most, and not in a good way. It was slow, rude, and genuinely made the experience uncomfortable.
The atmosphere itself was fine, a cool, genuine, low-key place. I wouldn’t recommend it based on this visit, but it’s always nice to try something new. Hopefully, the service improves next time.

We had Corry as our waiter. He was the best waiter I’ve ever had in my life. We both agreed on that! this was the most unique experience I’ve ever had. I’ve never cooked my own food at a restaurant. Cory was so attentive. he kept us filled up, he also made suggestions. then after we stuffed ourselves with the meat fest, we had awesome dessert. There is nothing like this place. We both thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We will likely be back. I wish I had gotten more pictures of the food, but it was so good. I ate it too fast to take pictures.
