Back A Yard in Menlo Park is seriously good. The food is packed with flavor and tastes like real home-style Caribbean cooking.

I ordered the goat curry and jerk chicken, served with rice & beans and fried plantains — everything was cooked perfectly. The goat curry was tender and rich, and the jerk chicken had just the right balance of spice and smokiness. The plantains were sweet and fresh, and the rice & beans tied the whole meal together.

Highly recommend pairing your meal with a Jamaican orange cream soda — super refreshing and a perfect match. You can also get there home made juice – pineapple guava.

Only suggestion: a bigger sign outside the shop would really help with visibility, because this place is too good to miss.

Definitely coming back

This place has delicious food! I did not dine in so I cannot fairly judge the overall atmosphere of that. I got take out, got the jerk chicken that comes with plantains, rice and beans. Very delicious, definitely flavorful and not dry. Also can customize to be more spicy as well. Can’t wait to come back here!

Mostly a take-out- only restaurant though there are a few seats outside. Got the Beef oxtail plate – good amount of meat and nice for the price (~$18). The flavor is subtle but okay for a quick meal.

We were pleasantly surprised with this place!! We didn’t know what to expect, but it was bombs. Everything was seasoned so well and didn’t need any sauces or anything. We are in town for the week and TK gave us a bunch of recommendations for things to do which was so nice!! I got the breaded fish with the difficult name I can’t remember lol. But it was INSANE. my husband got the 3 meat plate it was smoked so well and he compared it to his time living in the south. 10/10!!!

Excellent Caribbean grill food. Oxtails were perfect. Plantains…perfection. Chicken was delicious, moist, light smoke. Best Caribbean food I’ve had in Bay Area. 2X visit still great!

Very tasty food, served up by friendly staff who are happy to explain anything and help you find something you’ll enjoy. Good sized portions too! I had the oxtails, plantains, and beans and rice. All of it was lovely. As a heads up, even if you order the non spicy version there’s going to be a little bit of background heat. That’s normal for Caribbean food, and it’s still mild enough that it should be fine unless you have an allergy. And they have a wide variety of gluten free options, for the people like me who are need that. We’ll be coming back for more!

This place is dangerous! If I lived nearby, I would eat here EVERY DAY! The portions are HUGE and the food is delicious. I had the Jerk Chicken and Pork Combo and WOW! Chased it down with a Guava Pineapple drink. Even had the Key Lime Pie to go. Next time I am down in this area, I will make sure to go here.
My Lady had the Rice and Beans with Sautéed Vegetables and Mac and Cheese.

I Don’t Know what happened to this Location, but it went completely down! As I been going here for years! But but last week, will be my last time,as the food IS NOT THE SAME! The flavor’s is not authentic anymore,as I see they cater a different crowd, whom doesn’t know any better. Meaning Caribbean food. Especially the “Jerk Chicken”! Which they put in the oven on BROIL! I Know the difference. The rice was over cooked, and they didn’t have peas in it. It was regular over cooked rice. Even the patties was different. They even had a Whole different crew working there, which have me to believe there either a New Owner,or they just don’t care anymore. Yes! It was a lot of people coming, but again. They don’t know any better.
