I recently had the pleasure of trying one of the best dipped Italian beef sandwiches I’ve ever had, and believe it or not, it came from Baby Al’s! As someone who hails from the Chicagoland area, I know a thing or two about Italian beef sandwiches, and let me tell you, this one did not disappoint.

The food was decent. I ordered the whole wings with fries. The skin was seasoned well, but the meat was a bit tough. The fries were crispy, but unseasoned. The sauce saved the meal. I’m not sure if I’ll be back to try other options. It took 30 minutes for my order to come out, but the lady at the counter was very nice.

I was looking for a good spicy chicken sandwich, saw the reviews for Baby Al’s and decided to give it a try. I thought I was getting a chicken breast sandwich but what I received was a chicken cutlet sandwich, looked no where near the chicken sandwich shown. I must admit the flavors where all there and would have been an amazing sandwich had it been a chicken breast cooked right. It took approximately 40 minutes to get my order and when I opened the bag I was shocked. It was a very thin piece of chicken cutlet cooked to oblivion, very crunchy but not from the breading but because the chicken was extremely over cooked and extremely dry. Again the flavor was all there but I could only eat three bites and that was taken from the thickest part of the cutlet

Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. Ordered an Italian beef dipped with hot peppers. The beef in my opinion was pretty bland the peppers we’re not hot. Pizza puff wasn’t cooked all the way. french fries we’re half done.

I went to Baby Al’s today for lunch and ordered an Italian beef and Chicago hot dog. It was absolutely amazing!! I felt like I was back in Chicago. If you haven’t been here yet I promise you’re missing out!! I’ll be a regular customer from here moving forward. Also the people working here were super friendly.

I’m from the South Side of Chicago and nothing about this food taste like home. The Italian beef was flavorless. The maxwell polish was horrible the onions had a musty smell. Nothing like 18th street Jim’s original . Pizza puff was not good. Over all bad experience. Will not eat here again

The food is really good. The sausage tastes different, not like what I’m use to on the Maxwell Street polish. It never failed me though.

I’m so glad I found this little gem when I moved down from the Chicago area 5 years ago. I live about 90 minutes north but it’s worth the drive if you love true Chicago dogs and beefs. This is just like the days of going to Portillo’s, Al’s, Carms, Gene n Jude’s. Anyone from Chicago knows these places well and, this little place is as good or better. The food is fresh and hot, spiced just right. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. Don’t leave without getting the Chicago dog, Italian beef with hot or sweet peppers dipped and a Maxwell polish. I always go in hungry and get all 3 lol.
