I occasionally stop by this store. Great personnel and good variety of foods to choose from.

I visited Babushka not too long ago, got their muraveynik cakes. They had 2 different options and I got both to try. Absolutely tasteless, no filling…

Straight fire. Food is delicious & desserts are pure heaven! Our attendant was super helpful, patient & informative! She juggled other customers extremely well in between our questions & inquiries (we’ve never been to a Russian bakery before). We were offered samples of most items we asked about & our experience was amazingly quick & we left with happy, full bellies (& almost $200 worth of food, drinks & baked goods)! Would definitely recommend & will definitely return again!

I’ve been to at least 20 different Russian delis along the West Coast and this one was probably the worst I’ve been to.

For starters, there is an entire wall dedicated to expired goods; but these are not just things nearing expiration or recently expired — but things that have been expired for YEARS

Even among the normal selection of allegedly unexpired goods, I found things like Milka chocolate which was expiring in just five days. Shouldn’t this be on the rack with the other stuff?

There were no pastries or warm food baked, so I will not comment on that since I couldn’t try it. But perhaps the strangest experience here was when we inquired about some tea behind the counter and the clerk just aggressively threw them on the table, as if we were inconveniencing her by shopping, and then frantically put them back on the shelf while we were in the middle of comparing them?

The whole thing was just bizarre.

In any case, I know we all have bad days, and sometimes situations can be misinterpreted, so I’ll give this place a second chance the next time I’m in the Portland area but my first impression was not good.

On the plus side, the selection of frozen pelmeni was very nice. The selection of imported goods in general is acceptable. Lots of juices and waters. Lots of teas. Lots of candies.

There were minimally some cakes and macaroons available, but they were remarkably expensive.

Yesterday was the first time we stopped in and immediately commented on how good it smelled! I bake my own bread & the aroma in BaBushka was home!

Their baked stuff looked cute, but tasted bad and old. They also carried many products that carried Israeli flags and supporting messages.

I love this deli and bakery! Actually, it’s my favorite for cakes especially. And the rose tarts are mind blowing! And , the coffee is great! I love the service at the bakery, and have not been disappointed with anything I’ve bought . Baked goods, deli meat, the cold salads , pilmeni, pirogies…. love

Here are a lot of cool stuff but owners sell expired products. The prices are really expensive and quality is poor. That happen with me when I accidentally bought expired products. But this juice is special with mold… see the pictures…

A cute little Russian bakery. Unfortunately I didn’t try any of the baked goods but they have a wide variety of various russian goods. It was a little intimidating, the staff did not seem very friendly. And I don’t think I’ve ever felt any more out of my element. Mostly Russian speaking. I guess it just is part o f the experience. The chocolates that we got to snack on are amazing and we hope to come back next time we’re in town.

We stopped by this place during our roadtrip, and we loved it. Their cakes and pastries are amazing, especially fruit tarts. Taste of my childhood:) Prices are reasonable.
