Fried chicken was very meaty and the batter has potential. I think I got the B team cooking in the back, or the old food from the day before. I went the first hour that they were open on a Sunday.
Collard greens were dry and you can see that in my photo but they weren’t terrible just not great.
Mac & cheese literally tasted like paper-dry, cheese-less and flavor less (however, pictures from others indicate that I got the B team).
The sauces were solid. Nothing amazing, but solid.

Was very excited to try. Food had great portion size for the price. However the sauces didn’t pair well and the food all together didn’t have enough flavor. The chicken was juicy but very plain. Mac & cheese tasted like butter noodles. Fries are squishy. Collard greens were a 6/10. If the customer service was not good I would’ve rated 1 star…Customer service was great!

The chicken was crispy and delicious. I had the strips, and my husband had the chicken. First place I’ve been to in a while that had collard greans. They were amazing! They had real mashed potatoes that were delicious, but they use the Yukon gold that are not the best choice for hot holding russet are the best for that. Will definitely go eat here again.

Definitely a pleasant surprise and a desire to return. Wish more were available in other parts of San Antonio. Plenty of flavor in their sides and the chicken has a hood crsp to it.

Loved this place. Clean, small, and great friendly staff. The chicken was perfect and the okra and fries were really good too. Definitely worth stopping in for yummy crispy chicken. We will definitely be back for both chicken strip and fried chicken.

First, I would like to recognize the friendly staff and wonderful service I received. Now for the food review. For starters, the chicken was crispy and juicy. The fries are still the same signature fries you get at Babes Old Fashioned Burgers, delicious. Now I will say the highlight for me was the collard greens. One of the best I’ve ever had. So much favor! Now, unfortunately the homemade mashed potatoes was a huge miss. The mashed potatoes were very bland and the gravy was also bland. But, that will not change the fact that I will be going back and trying the mac & cheese next. Of course next time I will be getting more of the collard greens. So give Babes Crispy Chicken a try, it will not disappoint.

NOPE. Sorry Babe, stick to Burgers. I love fried chicken and got excited when I saw this place cause I love Babes Burgers, especially the spicy fried chicken sandwich! Ordered a 2 piece meal, 2 chicken breasts, (cause that’s how I roll). Lady said there would be an up charge for breasts, okay no problem! Pull up and same nice lady says $17 and change…WHAT?! For a 2 piece meal, 2 sides and 14 oz Pepsi?? She tells me it’s a $1.99 upcharge for each piece. Apparently they don’t serve a chicken breast in a 2 piece meal option…fine, never been here let me try it..heres the upset. Meal comes with a very small order of fries and corn on the cob qtr..the breasts were good size, but bland! Like eating boiled chicken with no salt or ingredients…skin was crunchy on one, the other was soft..won’t be back..

So, I’m back again! My first visit was Thursday and my second visit was on Sunday! I know, that’s greedy but Nestor the Blesser of the Collards (I gave him this nick name today) is the only reason I returned within 3 days. Has earned the nickname! No one has collards in any drive thru on the NE side of SA that is this well seasoned! I assumed that the greens are always this good, but I can’t be sure because each visit, Nestor the Blesser happened to be working! So, if Nestor didn’t cook them, I don’t want them. I’m serious! This visit, I tried the chicken breast and baby, talk about juicy! I tried my best to zoom in on the chicken breast, so you can see the juices. It’s worth the 1.50 upcharge!
Do yourself a favor, if you visit and go to the drive through, I recommend you ask if Nestor is working and if he cooked the collards. Tell Nestor, Jackie sent you to try his collards! They are seasoned with love and truth be told, management needs to use Nestor’s recipe! I’ll be back, but not 2 days in one week!

I don’t really know if I want to share this because this place is so good. I really want to keep it a secret so please don’t tell nobody else!!! Okay that being said. I really couldn’t find anything wrong with this chicken or this place. The batter and the seasoning were so good the chicken was juicy the fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes and buttery. The white gravy and the brown gravy were good two different orders. The okra that we had was perfect it was not rubbery it was good I don’t even want to use words that’ll make a sound otherwise it was just good. I really wanted to take a picture but I ate so fast not a chance for me to even put my fork down.
