I love this restaurant so much whenever I go to Saint Pete. Truly one of the best Mediterranean spots because it is always consistently dependable and reliable. They never really have off days, which is great because it’s somewhere I can always bring friends and family. The atmosphere is honestly so great especially on the outside. You would think it would be too hot sometimes and too cold but they have lanterns that make it perfect in the winter and fans to make it perfect in the summer. It’s truly one of the best maintained outside eating areas Because it’s completely covered as well so that really helps the shade aspect. There’s also a little section outside of the dining patio that serves as a little cocktail lounge area, which is adorable. if you wanna find somewhere that you could eat outside with your elderly grandma, this is a great place because they really do everything they can to make it as comfortable as possible for those hot Florida summers. They also allow dogs to come in, which may be a plus or a minus for some people. if you go, the falafel is truly some of the best delicate crunchy falafel that I’ve ever had and all of the spreads and dips are incredibly delicious and consistent. Get their vegetable crudite because it’s the freshest, crunchies selection of watermelon, radishes, perfect Romain, lettuce, boats, crisp carrots. The main thing that me and my friends always say about this restaurant is that it literally reminds us how refreshing and satisfying actually healthy food could be. I know that sounds funny, but we always sit down and say we should eat like this more at home! Haha. Great Greek wine list in addition to the Classics and nice cocktails. I genuinely don’t have ANYTHING negative to say about this place, which is really really rare. lol. Also get baklava if you can.

TYLER provided excellent personal service. Our family of 4 arrived at opening time of 5pm to an open door accessible entry.
We enjoyed delicious appetizers of octopus saganaki with an incredible red sauce and three dips of hummus, baba ganoush, and Labna served with fresh light pita and veggies including daikon and endive. The mains of snapper swimming in great sauce and beef skewer are awesome. The beef skewer sits on a long pita with red sauce and spices. Delicious well prepped food with true Mediterrean flavor
The venue had soft music til about 6pm then music became loud
The decor is white with blue including a pole painted with the famous eye icon. Old photos of Greek life offer a nice touch.
Accessible tables are outdoors with umbrellas and one area is semi secluded. The indoor open air tables are accessible. Bar seating is high top with a full bar.
Food menus are large white card stock with dark letters and bar menu is small book with white stock and dark letters
Accessible all gender restrooms with 2 grab bars and 3ftx 5 ft space
Excellent food and attentive service We enjoyed arriving during daylight and watching transition into evening

The food and drinks here were top tier & DJ provided wonderful service. My husband and I came here for a date night. We had a dip trio that was soooo good! I had the scallops with a gluten free substitute for one of the ingredients (thanks for the help with that, DJ!) and my husband had a kabab. Everything was wonderful. I also had this tasty tequila drink that I can’t remember the name of. The atmosphere was great as well. We’ll be back!

This place seems to have gotten better over time. I always love the atmosphere and their cocktails are great. The daily hummus can’t be beat. I got the red snapper collars which I’ve only seen here and they are amazing especially when eaten with the fresh herb salad. Kebabs shown in photos were a winner as well.

Baba is fabulous—from the delicious, fresh Mediterranean fare to the lively vibe and attentive service. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in downtown. I recently hosted a birthday gathering for 12 and the family-style dining was terrific. Everyone had an incredible time and we left quite full!

Special shout-out to manager Tommy and our server Kyle for being absolutely top-notch and making us all feel so welcomed!

Sunday night, I headed to Baba for some lamb chops after seeing the good reviews. Very disappointed. Presentation amazing! Eating is awful. Upon cutting the chops open, Sous Vide overcooked nasty – see that mush? That’s when the muscle fibers break down excessively, and the connective tissues begin to disintegrate. Result? No flavor. It’s a common issue these days, as restaurants often fail to manage their cook. Potatoes were lovely. Wine was great, and well priced. If a restaurant is preparing the lamb with sous vide, they should tell you, in my view. I’ll be back as it’s a cool place, so long as Baba can grill my lamb and dump their lazy sous vide recipe, which ruined what was a very nice piece of meat before cooking.

I wanted to like you but I expected more flavor and care for the price.

I got the Hangar Steak with za’atar butter, fries, and sumac onion for $45. I have za’atar and sumac in my pantry and both know and love the flavors.

What I got was lukewarm. Fries were also barely warm and soggy (though seasoned well), that doesn’t feel ok because with tax, the 2% kitchen fee, and a 20% tip I paid $75 for the Hangar Steak, water, and half the dips I split with my friend ($25 for 4 dips, pita, and veg).

Even though the service was odd I always tip at least 20% because I can never be sure of the real reason behind odd service. Honestly our server was distracted, nice but not as present as he could have been and somehow was the bartender towards the end of the hour too?! We weren’t really checked back in on until well late in our meal so it’s not like we could send it back.

To compare:
– Wagyu Steak Frites with Australian Wagyu Sirloin Red Wine Shallots and Rosemary Fries at Wild Child is $36
– Filet Mignon with polenta cake, trumpet mushrooms roasted tomato and au poivre sauce at Olivia is $46 (the Tampa location is Michelin recognized)
– 12oz Hanger Steak, Truffle Fries, Shaved Parmesan, Red Wine Demi Glace at Birch and Vine is $40
– Ribeye Steak with grilled veggies and rosemary potatoes at Mythos is $38

For a $45 steak and fries entree I just wanted some hot fries and warm steak, sure it’s Hanger steak but as seen above other cuts from restaurants higher on Central are cheaper. My friends fish was good but also not very warm and the sauce was more of a soup (maybe add a grain to offset the amount of sauce?). The flavor was subtle, though she did ask for a substitution for the fennel which would have helped the flavor pop so I can’t be too harsh on the flavor.

The dips were mostly good (though I couldn’t put my finger on what was up with the tzatziki), but pricey for the small portions.

The outside was pretty.

Maybe the other stuff is good? Maybe just go for a drink date? Just don’t expect consistent service or hot food.

My wife chose this restaurant for date night and we had a very enjoyable evening. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available. I ordered the whole bronzino, and my wife ordered the mushroom kebabs. The bronzino was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We also tried a trio of dips and an octopus appetizer. Again, we enjoyed both. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available. Our service was very friendly.
