We were there on a busy evening and put in the room without the bar. The service was slow but the food was worth the wait in the end. The new waitress we had was lovely although we were asked if we wanted Papadams whole we waited which never came.

Great little find. The lamb cutlets and the prawn goan curry where delicious. Really loved all the little accompaniments on the lamb cutlets dish, the pickles and sprouts and chutney added so much. Very memorable dish, thank you. The restaurant can lack atmosphere on a cold and not so busy evening. I presume it was the owners who were serving us and they went over and above with the service. Never a fan of chemical plug in fragrances and recommend filling the restaurant with your beautiful fragrant herbs and spices instead. Would definitely go back.

With memories of The Guild dancing in my head, I checked out Milton’s contemporary Indian newcomer, Baar Baar. A brightly coloured menu, similar to what you get at Sydney venues like Masala Theory, presents a mix of traditional Indian dishes from across the subcontinent, plus some fusion ideas. Indian taco chaat is one example, which Sydney has also been exploring in restaurants like Tikka Taco Day. Baar Baar also use contemporary serving apparatus, which sees Tandoori chook dangling over its accompaniments, just like The Secret Kitchen in Bella Vista.

The dining experience lags a little behind. The odd layout, stretched over multiple spaces, sees some people seated across the way in over-lit Siberia (and the lighting in the split level main dining room wasn’t exactly subtle). The upper level closest to front door is the warmest place. Drafts at the rear were created by staff entering and leaving for the kitchen, leaving it to patrons to close the door. The musical selections seemed inspired by elevators. I was also disappointed I couldn’t BYO local Cupitt’s Estate Chardonnay, but soothed by seeing other locally produced booze on the list. There were Silos Estate wines, local vodka and gin, plus local crafties. This saw us drink the Jervis Bay 11 Day Pale Ale ($14) and the Dangerous Ales Backyard Pale Ale ($14) that was brewed about a 150 meters away.

Not being big on fried entrees we headed straight for the curries. While I’ve had better exemplars of beef vindaloo ($34), the prawn moilee ($38) from Kerala in the south of India was excellent. Vibrantly yellow from turmeric, the curry’s spice mix included fresh aromatics like ginger and dried ones like coriander seeds, over tender little prawns. Scooped up on an okay butter naan ($6) or a tandoori butter roti ($7), or eaten over long grain Basmati rice ($8) it was delicious. The kitchen responded so well to us asking for our curries to be hot, we needed to add on raita ($7) where cucumber, onion and spices are chopped through yoghurt. We paid an extra 10% to dine on Sunday night on top of a menu that already feels a bit pricy.

Do yourself a favour & book yourselves a table at Baar Baar – a must visit in Milton – flavours we have never had before. We had the barramundi kerala moilee the freshest fish we have ever had the pleasure of eating. The lamb chops, the naan, the butter chicken – what can we say – there was not one morsel we didn’t devour! Thank you for our new go to Indian when in Milton.

The food was made perfectly, it was especially good for people who like to have spicy foods while also enjoying the taste at the same time. The vegetarian Biryani was delicious and the Beef vindaloo was good but to me it was less spicy then what I thought. Our table had the lamb Indian styled tacos for one of the entrée had great crunchy shell with amazing fillings especially with sauces with it. Another entrée we had was the lamb skewer and the sausage skewer. They were cooked perfectly and paired very well with the sauces.
Lastly the reason I gave the service only 4 stars are not because of the attitude as all staff were amazing to the customers, it’s only because they were understaffed on this night, and it was very busy. But they handled it well and managed to get out all the food and drinks.

Amazing food – the chaat tacos were very unique and tandoori chicken skewers were tender with a lovely spice blend. Mocktails were on point and brownie skillet was sizzling hot with icecream. It was clear the restaurant put thought into every dish. Highly recommend!

Best Indian Restaurant in NSW and one of the best in Australia. Worth of price and wait. Must try taco Chaat. All the currys were perfectly flavourful and delicious, Paneer Butter Masala felt too runny but delicious. The chefs and bar guy are talented.

We have dined here on a few occasions. Our favourite is the chicken tikka skewers. Last night it didn’t disappoint. However, we had forgotten how filling they were especially when accompanied by mango lassi.
We decided to get the butter chicken and garlic naan as takeaway for dinner the next night. Both were delicious.
Staff were friendly and provided great service. Thankyou

Wowwwww we have eaten at so many Indian places as it’s our favourite cuisine and I’d have to say this place tops them all. every meal we had here was 10/10. The food is absolutely incredible and the reviews do not lie. Book this place now!
The lychee cocktail, garlic naan, biryani, chicken taco chaat (omg), Navarttan korma and chocolate thunder desert were all to die for.
We can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu.

Thankyou for such a wonderful atmosphere, service and by far the best Indian food along the whole coast line and beyond
