My sister and I went to this spot. We were pleasantly surprised. The appetizer soup was VERY tasty. We couldn’t figure out what the base was. I ordered Thai basil chicken fried rice, medium spicy. It was still hot…lol. It didn’t take away from the flavor. Still very good. I also had a shrimp dish that was also awesome.

Baan Thai

This place was great. I ordered the panang curry, goong ob woonsen, and the tom yum. Everything was delicious and packed with flavor. I felt great after I ate this food. It had a good proetion of protein and veggies.

The lady was super nice and spoke and was quick with our food.

The place was clean and had adequate space.

Baan Thai is an absolute gem!

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warmest hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The food is consistently amazing ~fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish is packed with authentic Thai flavors, and you can truly taste the care that goes into each plate.

The service is outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you’re dining in or ordering to-go, they always make you feel valued and taken care of.

If you’re looking for incredible Thai food with exceptional service, Baan Thai is a must. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back again and again!

The dining experience at Baan Thai last night was a disaster. Several dishes didn’t meet the expectations, and the handling of our feedback by the manager/owner was unprofessional and disrespectful.

Last week we got some fried rice and drunken noodle to go from baan Thai. We liked it and wanted to dine in. We always want to support a small business.

We ordered chicken satay – it was very dry and chewy to eat. It didn’t look fresh. 0/5

Baan Thai Sampler Platter – chicken spring rolls were over cooked – 3/5
Pot stickers very dry as well – 2/5
Crab Rangoon tasted fresh and nice -4.5/5
Vegetable spring rolls – 3/5 over cooked.

Kids chicken noodle was a disaster. It was not fresh food that was served . My friend wanted to see why kids were not eating and he tasted it and spit the whole thing out. How can you serve stale food?

Panang Curry – 3/5 it was on in taste but not great about it.

Basil fried rice with extra egg and cashews was good -5/5.

The server was more focused on the phone rather than service. She did not even check with us on the spice level of the food.

When we mentioned the chicken satay was not good and the chicken noodle for kids. She called the manager/owner and he started yelling at his employee saying whenever the food is not good she needs to show it to him and not to discard it. He went to the trash can to look at it. He is not an employer whom I would look to work for. Then he started yelling at us saying the good should not be consumed if it is not good, we showed him the complete plate how it was served to us then he went in looking for chicken satay in trash can. I am surely not coming back to this business for sure. I would have given 3 starts at least but with this kind of behavior, would definitely be a negative star.

As a customer, encountering such behavior can be extremely off-putting. The server’s lack of attentiveness, coupled with the manager/owner’s response to valid concerns, shows a lack of customer service skills and an inability to handle criticism constructively.

Yelling at an employee in front of customers, especially for trying to dispose of unsatisfactory food, is inappropriate and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone present. Moreover, being yelled at as a customer when sharing legitimate feedback about the food is not only disrespectful but also reflects poorly on the establishment’s professionalism and ability to handle customer complaints.

A good business owner or manager should handle complaints with grace, respect, and a willingness to rectify the situation. Engaging in arguments, blaming staff in front of customers, and raising voices not only fails to address the issue but also drives customers away.

This negative encounters has impacted me as a customer and the perception of this place, overshadowing any positive aspects of the dining experience. My feedback should serve as constructive criticism, highlighting areas for improvement in customer service and overall experience for the business to consider.

If you live in San Antonio and you haven’t been to Baan Thai – ‍♂️

I recently dined at Baan Thai and was blown away by the delicious and authentic flavors of the food. From the Fresh Rolls soup to the Broccoli Peanut, every dish was expertly prepared and presented. The service was also great, with the staff being very friendly and attentive.

One standout dish was the Drunken Noodles, which had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness.
The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable, making Baan Thai a great value
Overall, I highly recommend Baan Thai for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Whether dining in or taking out, this restaurant is sure to impress.

I am a love of all things super super spicy, but the Thai spicy here is insane. Just a word of caution for spicy lovers! We ordered drunken noodle, pad Thai and Tom yum noodles. The drunken noodle was the best of these 3 dishes. The Tom yum noodles were more pho style than Thailand.

Chose this place randomly, and I’m glad we did. With an extensive menu, it was hard to choose, so we ordered the ones labeled as “favorites.” The kids LOVED their food and we were even asking to buy more to go. Their spice levels are 1-5 and at level 3, my Drunken Noodles got me glistening. The only server there was very kind and as attentive as she could be. Definitely coming back with the family and bringing my coworkers here for lunch.

Great place for Thai. Better than the other Thai place nearby called “little Thai…..”
The only thing I’ve found that isn’t so good is the satay but everything else has been the bomb. Also their lemon chicken (yes Chinese-ish) is really wonderful.
I love their pad see ewe, pad kra pow, pad pak, and their Thai lettuce wraps. Tom kha and tom yum are delicious. Just come and try it…can’t wait to try more things here.

Since the change in ownership, I’ve visited this restaurant four times and each visit has been consistently excellent!!!!

The menu items, including Som Tum (Papaya salad), Tom Yum firepot, Thai basil fried rice, Spicy salty crispy tilapia (so crispy), Queen of duck red curry (very flavorful) and chicken larb, have all been outstanding. Each dish is authentic and packed with flavor, making this my go-to spot for Thai food in the area.
