Social Profile:

BAAN YAAI means… Grandma’s Home in Thai. This was the special place where all our family members would go to eat the best Thai street food. All dishes were basic & simple ingredients, but were very delicious tasty. She prepared her dishes the same as the food stalls and corner cafes in Bangkok, but with loving care. Therefore we infuse love & care into our Thai comfort food in the form of Thai street food which we probably proudly prepare for you here at “BAAN YAAI”

Compact, colorful restaurant featuring Thai street food & cocktails, with vegan options.

I discovered this restaurant when I was visiting San Francisco for the first time. The food was so delicious, that I decided to return again. Amazing flavor, good variety and they can accommodate dietary restrictions, make dishes vegan per request. The service is always nice. I’ll definitely return again next time I’m in the area.

Very friendly staff! Was not aware of their closing time (10 PM) but waitress still allowed us to dine in 10 minutes before closing. Their food is very tasty and cuts of meat is much better quality than you would expect from similar establishments. Overall, great service and food and we’ll definitely be coming here again.

Oh yesss! Grandma’s thai food.. sign me up!! We were pleasantly surprised by this quiet, intimate joint so close to the bustling Chestnut St in the Marina neighborhood. Loved the feel of the place & the warm service! The ambiance & the sliding windows of the storefront definitely transports your imagination to an Asian market street where you enjoy a quick meal while people watching. We ordered the Gyoza, Tom Yum Soup, Vegetarian Fried Rice & Thai Iced Tea. Delicately seasoned, smallish portions enough to fill you up but also feel light after the meal. Definitely recommend for a nice afternoon lunch. Yum Yum

Stopped into this place and had an unexpectedly delicious meal. The egg rolls were perfectly cooked and the fried tofu was okay, but the Thai style crab omurice was absolutely delicious and one of the best things we’ve recently eaten. We will go back just for that.

The pictures really don’t do it justice. The flavor profiles and complexity were truly superb! The pumpkin Thai red curry and Spicy drunken noodles were exceptionally delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend.

I love Thai food and I never had any Thai food in SF that made me feel like I’m having food in Thailand like this restaurant. The Pad See Ew was soooo good, it tastes like you order it from street food in Bangkok.

Was excited to try this spot but unfortunately found it was pretty bland (spice and taste-wise). Had the pad Thai and pad kee Mao, so maybe the other dishes are better. However, given how many amazing Thai restaurants are in SF, I’d probably go elsewhere next time.

Baan Yaai was our first meal in San Francisco and it fully delivered. I will be dreaming about the roti canai, and the crab omurice was amazing. Every bite was delicious. The service was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and food came out quickly. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend.
