Social Profile:

“Baan Yaai” means Grandma’s Home in Thai. This was the special place where all our family members would go to eat the best Thai street food. Grandma’s dishes were basic with simple ingredients, but were very delicious and tasty. She prepared her dishes the same as the food stalls and corner cafes in Bangkok, but with loving care. Therefore, we infuse love and care into our Thai comfort food in the form of Thai street food, which we proudly prepare for you here at Baan Yaai.

Compact, colorful restaurant featuring Thai street food & cocktails, with vegan options.

We spent over six weeks in Thailand in January and February this year and we ate well!! So trying to find an authentic Thai restaurant, we decided to give this a try! We’re so glad we did as we felt that there flavors and taste were so reminiscent of all the food we ate at very local restaurants and vendors in Southern Thailand as well as Chiang Mai.

We ordered green curry with chicken and the chicken pad Thai. We also ordered brown rice. The food was perfect and brought us back to our time earlier this year in Thailand.

We coming back to try many different dishes in their menu!! Also service was excellent!!

We’ve passed by this place several times, and finally tried it yesterday. I loved the green curry; it had just the right hint of coconut and a spot on flavor for our taste buds. The sticky rice was heavenly too! I also really appreciated the customer service. I didn’t get the name of our server, but she was so polite and sweet. She kept checking in to make sure we were taken care of, and it made the whole experience even better.
Definitely coming back!

This place was way too empty for how incredibly delicious it was! First thing was the service was just lovely, such a nice lady who immediately offered a free appetizer and drink with a big smile. The Thai iced tea came first, and I know I’m a bit of a sweet tooth, but it was probably the best one I’ve ever had outside of Thailand. So incredibly creamy and rich! The food was just delectable, the crispy rolls so crunchy but tender, and the omurice was perfectly cooked, fresh and delightful. The portions were huge! Really such an excellent dinner experience, HIGHLY recommend and will be back

My friend and I came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. We were seated immediately. Order was taken and the food was served very quickly.

My friend ordered the stirred fried noodle and I ordered the crab omurice. Great flavor with generous portion. I honestly have to say the crab omurice is overrated since it is the signature. The amount of crab meat is lacking.

I would be back to try for different dishes since the flavors are definitely great.

Very friendly staff! Was not aware of their closing time (10 PM) but waitress still allowed us to dine in 10 minutes before closing. Their food is very tasty and cuts of meat is much better quality than you would expect from similar establishments. Overall, great service and food and we’ll definitely be coming here again.

The food is amazing, but the service is why I gave it five stars. The food has amazing flavor, we got yellow curry, cucumber salad and roti canai. Everything was full of flavor. The server was so sweet and attentive. Highly recommend!!

I really enjoyed the food in Baan Yaai and would recommend it to others. The papaya/shrimp salad was refreshing and tasty with a hint of spice, although I didn’t think that the shrimp was actually grilled (really liked it regardless!) I also loved the Pad See Ew with tofu. Both portions were big and the service was lovely. The only reason I didn’t order a dessert was because I was too full!

P.s. the pictures don’t do it justice!

Oh yesss! Grandma’s thai food.. sign me up!! We were pleasantly surprised by this quiet, intimate joint so close to the bustling Chestnut St in the Marina neighborhood. Loved the feel of the place & the warm service! The ambiance & the sliding windows of the storefront definitely transports your imagination to an Asian market street where you enjoy a quick meal while people watching. We ordered the Gyoza, Tom Yum Soup, Vegetarian Fried Rice & Thai Iced Tea. Delicately seasoned, smallish portions enough to fill you up but also feel light after the meal. Definitely recommend for a nice afternoon lunch. Yum Yum
