Our host was very patient , fun and friendly. They are able to accommodate our party that came on Friday Jan 16th of about 8-9 people. S55 was a flavourful clear beef broth with rice noodles and brisket – refreshing! Bathroom is clean. No issues with service or food and everyone got their order/ drinks around the same time.

This branch of Baan Thai is one of their best with regards to the interiors and service. We’ve been here several times, their food and service are on point. Phad Thai and satay are always our go to food here. Their Happy Hour is also a must-try. Their Trio Mimosa is good according to my sister who thought the servings will be less but 3 glasses of 4oz Mimosa in different flavors were enough for sharing. Their non alcohol lavender drink is also good.

Best deal for happy hours! Good service each and every time.

This is so weird because I could’ve sworn I had posted reviews for this place before but Google Maps have the tendency to lose some of my old reviews.

Definitely not the first time eating at this location and definitely won’t be the last.

Happy hour skewers are so choice and a great price point! Also love the wok fried beans, and the red curry. YUM! Can’t go wrong with this Vic staple

As a Thai person, I always went to this restaurant when i was in Victoria. The head of the chef is Thai and the food is soooo good. Here’s a review for each food I tried before
– thai tea is sometimes sweet and sometimes too plain but I still think overall it’s a good one
– tomyum noodle comes with a very big bowl and tastes sour more than spicy
– tomyum fried rice is soooo good! tastes like a local one for phet mal level
– phad thai is good
– larb tastes like local
– the banana and gelato is a MUST!!!

Delicious food and speedy service. The place has a fairly cozy atmosphere and fair portion sizes, hands down the papaya salad was the best thing we had. It’s been ages since we’ve had a good papaya salad with a proper spice to it. Martini was a touch bit on the strong side and don’t bother with the coffee if you’re looking for a caffeine slap. Overall will definitely be returning next time I’m in town!

We used to love coming here. Unfortunately, the service has been terrible the last few times we have ordered food here, which is incredibly disappointing. A few times now we have been told to come pick up our order in a certain amount of time only to arrive and have to wait an additional 45-60 mins among the many other patrons who are in the same predicament. This most recent experience we were waiting outside in 1 degree weather as the restaurant was already full of waiting customers thinking our order would be ready at any moment. When inquiring to staff about what is happening or possible timeline no one was able to provide an answer. If it was once or twice we understand things happen resturants get busy, however, this has been consistently an issue in our experience and will be going elsewhere from now on.

DO NOT EAT HERE.

Immediately when I sat down I noticed the table had not been cleaned. The table had been fully set (wine glasses and everything) on a dirty surface. I pointed it out to my friend and she agreed it was gross. We were seated towards the front of the restaurant so the afternoon light was shining in which made it look even worse! The table was streaky with dried rice and remnants of other food stuck on the surface (we should have left then)…..I told a server and she wiped part of the table but it was dried on there so she didn’t get it all, and the other side of the table she didn’t wipe remained dirty…..

My friend ordered the red curry. She asked what spice level it came with and the sever said medium but if it was too spicy she could bring us extra coconut milk. I ordered Pad Thai and asked for extra bean sprouts. The server said I wouldn’t need extra bean sprouts as it already came with lots of bean sprouts.

Our food came and the red curry was too spicy for my friend, so I asked for extra coconut milk which the server brought. After mixing the pad Thai (with the bean sprouts on top) I still wanted more so I asked the server and she said there might be an extra charge. I asked how much and she said she was not sure, she said there will definitely be an extra charge for the coconut milk because “it’s expensive” but the bean sprouts might be free. She came back and confirmed it is $2 for extra coconut milk and $2 for extra for bean sprouts. I pointed out she did not tell us there would be an extra charge for the coconut milk. After deliberating she said again that “it is expensive” but she won’t charge us for it this time. I said okay and asked again for extra bean sprouts and consented to the extra charge.

At the end of the meal I asked for the bills. She really messed up the bills, but the most significant mistake was splitting the dishes instead of billing us for the dishes each of us individually ordered and customized. The $5 cost difference between our two orders was overall insignificant and I didn’t want to point it out, and wait for it to be fixed so we paid and left.

Overall my experience was terrible, my friend agreed the table was dirty (and not re-cleaned properly), the server did not communicate extra charges to us while trying to argue coconut milk is very expensive (it’s really not and neither are bean sprouts), she didn’t confirm how we wanted to be billed (and made wrong assumptions), and the food was mediocre (small portion of red curry and overly sweet pad Thai). I will not be back and I will not recommend Baan Thai to anyone. If you read this, be warned and go somewhere else!

My wife and I walked here for lunch with 2 other friends. We were at a highschool nearby for our daughter’s volleyball tournament and had a 2hr break between games. We found this place on Google map. We like Thai food so decided to give it a try since the pho place next door was closed. Food and service was decent. Price may be a bit on the high side for what you are getting. Feels like we were eating a a food court case they were play music that you would listen to on the radio. Food came out within 10min after we ordered since we were the only ones in the restaurant. I like spicy food so the red curry with chicken was tasty.

If you are hungry and don’t mind spicy food, give this place a try.
