I was in town for business and had a few hours to indulge the foodie side of me, and I’m so glad I found BBQ King House in Chinatown Plaza. This place serves some of the most authentic Hong Kong–style barbecue in Chicago. The roast duck was incredible — perfectly glazed, juicy, and full of rich flavor — and the crispy pork belly had that authentic crunch that’s hard to find anywhere else.

I also tried the salt and pepper shrimp, which was light, crispy, and packed with that classic garlic and pepper flavor. The portions were generous, and everything tasted freshly made.

The restaurant has that no-frills, authentic local feel where the food truly speaks for itself. If you love real Chinese BBQ or want to experience something that feels straight out of Hong Kong, this spot is a must-visit.

We ordered whole roasted duck, stir drien ho fan noodles, seafood fried rice, dumplings soap and all of them were pretty delicious. The roasted duck was super juicy and not dry. The sauce made it real deal when paired with the roasted duck. The lady that serves us was so friendly.

BBQ King House offers affordable prices with generous portions that are perfect for sharing. The menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Service is friendly, and complimentary tea is a nice bonus that adds to the overall dining experience. A great spot for good food and value!

Great food! My chopsticks on the floor and a server offered a new one even before I asked for it. That was an exemplary service! Excellent!
Guys, never miss the Peking Duck!!! It’s the best in the world!

When i first taste their roast pork, its out of this world. When you go to chinatown have a bite of their roast duck as well, the service was wonderful. They deserve 5 stars. Definitely we’ll back BBQ King!!!

I have been coming here for over 30 years for the roast duck. Every time I visit Chicago I need to come to Chinatown for the Duck. Yes it is that good! Located in the heart of Chinatown, you can find this shop in the “newish” part. I highly recommend this restaurant as they truly are the BBQ King. Former president Obama would also seem to think so.

I ordered the string beans, beef chow fun, and duck and rice dishes. The food was mediocre. The duck was lacking flavor and the string beans had meat in the dish which was unusual (it also didn’t indicate it on the menu). Staff were nice and restaurant has several tables inside.

Rating 5 stars just for the rice in bamboo chicken dish!! Would eat this again in a heartbeat just because of how light the taste was and how filling the dish was. Also tried the pork bbq over rice and that was delicious as well 🙂 servers were nice too!

We went out for lunch and wanted to try a new restaurant in Chinatown. The atmosphere and service was great, no question. The food itself was another. I have to start by saying this isn’t the first time eating what was ordered. We orderd the bbq duck over rice, bbq pork spare ribs, garlic bokchoy and veg rice. Personally I found the duck skin to be tough as leather and small bones in the rice it was over. The ribs were tough as well, tender on a couple of pieces. The vegetables and veg rice was very good. Overall, I appreciate the service and price resonability, but we most likely won’t make a return visit.

After walking around Chinatown all day and feeling tired and super hungry, bbq king caught our attention with the mouth watering bbq meats hanging on the hooks on the window display. We ordered char sui and half a bbq duck. Unfortunately we came a bit late and roast pork was sold out and didn’t get to try it. The char sui was delicious. We ordered a bowl of white rice on the side. No Hong Kong bbq meal is complete without rice! We left with our bellies full and our hearts happy. Service was a bit slow as expected in any authentic Chinese restaurant. After a few minutes of waiting I helped myself to menus as it was not promptly given to us when we sat down.
