MIL likes it, so we went.
First, the complementary chips were mostly broken. Fine for chiliqueles, but not for salsa.
I ordered Chickel Mole… and the chicken breast was like *wood*. Tough, unappealing, with a mole sauce that tasted of salt (and not much else)
My wife had a chimichunga which was not deep-fried… it was grilled. In other words, she got a flour tortilla with some beef in it, warmed up on a grill.
However… when the wait staff found that I didn’t like the food, they took it off the bill. I didn’t ask for that, they just did it, so that was *very* impressive.

Probably could’ve taken a better picture but it was good and I was hungry. Seems like they’ve revamped the way they do things and the food was very good, flavorful and filling.

If culinary disappointment had a headquarters, it might be this place. I ordered the fajitas, and what arrived looked like someone panic-diced an onion and waved a piece of chicken *near* the pan without actually cooking it. That poor chicken truly died in vain—if it had known its fate was to become this dish, it would’ve crossed the road and kept going.
The cheese situation was even more tragic. I’m not sure whether it was Velveeta, American slices, or something crafted in a secret lab where flavor goes to die—but whatever it was, it didn’t belong anywhere near a Mexican plate.
To be fair, if you expect absolutely nothing, you won’t be disappointed. But if you walk in hoping for real fajitas, good cheese, or joy of any kind, maybe try literally any other restaurant.

We used to very much enjoy the Aztec in Kirkland, and were hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, although some of the servers seemed to be fine, the one woman we got seemed to really not want to do her job. She was quite unfriendly. The food was OK although the meat in the pork burrito was tough and hard to chew. The chips were not fresh, but I always love their salsa. The top shelf margarita was good although it had to be made twice because they forgot the Grand Marnier float the first time.

Their food has lots of good flavor and protions are great. You really get what you pay for. Live that it is in the Spokane Valley Mall so we did some shopping before we went to dinner. We will be coming back.

12.30.23: First time in and had a great lunch. The ambience was welcoming and I loved looking at all the restaurant decor. Service was fast, food came out hot, and our server was attentive. I ordered the 3 Al Pastor Taco combo paired with a margarita on the rocks. The Al Pastor was tender, tasty, and flavorful and only had to dab a little bit of pastor grease on a napkin. My friend had the enchilada combo, one chicken and one ground beef. He was pleasantly surprised he liked the ground beef better and said the chicken was good but lacked flavor. He thought the rice also lacked flavor however, I mixed my beans and rice and thoroughly enjoyed it myself.
I like how this restaurant is part of the Spokane Valley Mall and if need be, you can do some shopping before or after.

My favorite spot in town to get chili Rellenos! It’s so flavorful and fresh every time. We came in for my birthday and had great service that was fast. The salsa is delicious and the chips are always so warm, the wait staff always refills our salsa and chip basket when we run low too. 100% my favorite Mexican restaurant in Spokane!

What a delicious lunch we had! The staff are so gracious and friendly, and the food was amazing. We had the Dos Amigos and the Three Tostadas. We will definitely be back before our trip is over! *Update 1 yr later: Still the best restaurant I’ve ever been to! Incredible food and honestly fantastic staff!

Not used to dining in on a weekend. There was a 20-30 minute wait. We normally stop in on a week day.
We had to wait longer for our order and I ordered the Borrego. It’s no longer on the menu but was still available in the kitchen.
It was worth the extra wait for the Borrego.
Update: 8-15-23
The food is still great!

Not bad for an American -Mex kinda of place. We all enjoyed our meals. It was funny though because I was having a hard time deciding what to order so I asked our waiter what does he eat from here and he said he doesn’t. lol Despite that, the things we ordered were liked by all …pork verde, chimchanga, fajitas and fish tacos all with rice and beans. The down sides which aren’t that bad really, is that our chips that came with the salsa while you wait, looked like someone took a sledge hammer to them. They were so crushed up we couldn’t dip them for salsa. We asked for another basket but it was chip dust too. Lol Also the tortillas that came with my fish taco were not cooked enough to stay together. I had to eat my tacos with a fork because they fell apart if you tried to pick them up. Also, although our waiter was professional and good, he totally seemed like he would rather be anywhere other than there. Sadly Not friendly. I think people forget that friendliness is what brings the tips.Still, I would go back and try it again.
