A very local restaurant right in the middle of Aztec, NM. I got a burger with bacon. And it was pretty much what I expected. My daughter got her 17th order of chicken fingers and fries in the last month. She ate some of it. My wife’s aunt picked up the bill (Thx Nancy!), so I can only assume the price was reasonable.

If you’re reading reviews to decide to go here or not … you’re not missing out on anything if you decide to pass. Sure the old building is cute on the outside, the inside is clean and spacious, and the wait staff are great BUT you mainly go to a restaurant for the food. The food is absolutely awful from the appearance to the taste. We decided to stop here for lunch and ordered South of the Border #1 Combination and a Southwest Sub.

The South of the Border #1 Combination had flavorless meat, I even question if it was beef. The corn tortillas tasted stale and the cheese wasn’t all the way melted. To top it off the salsa was Pace Picante Salsa.

The Southwest Sub was mainly bread. There was little filling in it. The curly fries were not done, so we asked for “crispy fries” which ended up coming out well after we were done with our meals.

The cooks at this place are a joke. Nothing seemed “fresh” or “homemade”. They were obviously behind as there was practically a full restaurant and no one had their food yet. As first timers, we were extremely disappointed. We prefer to go to “ma and pa restaurants”, but in this case we should’ve just went to the Subway next door.

Not good.
Nice staff, but bland food.
I ordered the chili & the southwest taco.
The chili was cold, so they warmed it up for me. It was hamburger + beans + cheese + water. No peppers. No seasoning.
The southwest taco was the chili (hamburger & cheese) on frybread with lettuce. Still no seasoning or anything.

What a great stepping back in time a few years cafe. Not a lot of bells and whistles. Just a nice, laid-back atmosphere with the sweetest owner. She has worked there since 1985 and bought it 10 yrs ago. She works her tail off in this place. The green chili sauce is amazing. Would go back if we are ever in this area again.

Hot delicious dinner NM food! Prices are perfect to get your feed on. Our waitress Destiny was very good. She took care of us suggested things but didn’t interfere in our dining. Very kind. My only suggestion is clean the dead flies off your window sills.

Just about a mile walk over a lovely bridge & Animas River from magical Aztec Ruins National Monument. Aztec Restaurant is warm & welcoming! This taco, enchilada, relleno combo with green chilli sauce & a taste of red chilli, sour cream & salsa is a SW treat that Bourdain would’ve been thrilled to enjoy! ️

Don’t pass this place up!
We are always looking for restaurants to accommodate parking a large camper so we decided to stop here. I am so glad we did! We have five people in our family and they had food that accommodated everyone! This restaurant serves breakfast all day, burgers, enchiladas, and many other things! The service was equally as good. I added a pic of the fabulous biscuits & gravy!

Amazing food! The restaurant looks very basic compared to other places. This place is authentic and delicious. Everything is made from scratch. I had tacos on fry bread and they were delicious. I also recommend the fried green beans. Family friendly.

Good place for a home cooked meal. The food was good, service was great and they had live entertainment.

I had the frye bread which was huge and easily enough for 2 meals. My buddy had the chicken fried steak and he said it was ok. The portion was on the smaller side of what sizes he normally receives. They do serve breakfast all day & there was a salad bar.

The prices are very reasonable especially given that food cost have soared recently and Aztec is far from major retail hubs.

They were fairly busy but had only 2 servers. Our server was very polite and seem to treat each customer like they were her only. The food did take longer than expected to come out from the kitchen but we think they had just a couple of people in the kitchen.

Do not stop here! Bad food and the worst service. Pancakes were overdone. I asked for sausage and got bacon. I asked for well-done hashbrowns, and they were barely cooked. When I told the server, she took the plate away. Many minutes later, I got a plate back with 1 piece of hot sausage, but everything else was now cold. With 1/2 an order of hashbrowns well done. Waited for the rest of my order and never received it. After 30 minutes, I asked for a refund of my working man breakfast and received a discount of one coffee 1.79
