I went for a late lunch/early dinner and there was no wait time. The service was great, and I believe the owner was walking the floor, checking on tables, which was a nice touch. Overall, a great experience. I’ll definitely be back soon!
The owner is super kind and attentive, taking time to explain each dish and recommend the best combinations. You can really feel their pride and passion for sushi.
I don’t eat as much so it was nice to be able to get what I wanted rhater than being forced to eat and buy at a level I didn’t want to do. Also….be aware that the onigiri comes with 2 rather than 1. I considered this a plus for what we paid as a total bill. Come check it out and enjoy!!!
Some of the rolls leaned a little heavy on mayonnaise-based sauces, which wasn’t exactly my preference, but with such variety it was still easy to find favorites. By the second round we were already full.
We sat at the sushi bar since all the tables were full. It was packed on a Saturday night. The place was loud with large groups of young men drinking pitchers of beer. It reminded me of a frat house.
The service was slap dash at best. I had to flag down our server several times to get my hot tea refilled. The only way to order was to fill out a menu card and check the box next to your desired dish. We wanted the all you can eat option and there were 3 columns, each one for a round of food. So 3 rounds and a 2-hour time limit. And once again I had to flag down the server to pick up our menu cards. Our orders did come out fairly quickly though.
But the reason that they came out so quickly was that the quality of the food was horrendous. The miso soup was too salty to make up for its lack of flavor. The appetizers of gyoza and tempura were visually unappealing and were not fresh. The agedashi tofu was dry and hard and not served in a bowl of broth which is traditional.
The sushi was mediocre at best. The nigiri sushi was tiny portions on a tasteless wad of rice and the rolls were mostly filled with the fake crab and mayonnaise mixture to fill you up.
None of the fish seemed fresh and several pieces were rubbery. Basically inedible. And the selection was so minimal as to be laughable.
The offer of a tiny dish of free green tea ice cream at the end of our meal did not lift our spirits. When the bill came the price was more than expected because it was the weekend. And NO WHERE was there a sign saying prices were different on weekends.
If you are a frat boy who goes to get pitchers of beer to drown out the flavorless food go ahead. If you expect good quality sushi in a delightful atmosphere go somewhere else.
