It felt warm and grand like a fireplace. We came after a roller derby bout, and they hosted our after party. Incredible service, lots of incredible games in the back including the titular ax throwing. Additionally, the tap and drink selection is phenomenal, and the food selection is great. They were willing to change things to make them more vegetarian friendly, I ended up opting for the chips and salsa. Practically everyone else, all my carnivore and omnivore friends they seem to get a lot of incredible food for a great value. Has a small stage, a selection of board games, and everything you’d really want for a nice time with friends in a place that cares that you have that nice time.

Wow!!! is all I can say about this establishment.. What a Hidden Gem in Bristol.. We were hosting an event in town, I wanted to go get something to eat that felt like Bristol. Well I found it, they had a good selection of food and beverages on their menu. I got the half order of nachos and it was exactly what I expected it to be delicious and filling. I got to meet the owner and had a wonderful conversation with him about how he built his bar completely by his own hands it took him over a year. How he absolutely loves serving his community and all of his guests. His staff was nothing but helpful and respectful. It was a warm and inviting environment, the food was excellent pricing on point. I want to thank you again for the wonderful conversation the great atmosphere and a great lunch.
I will certainly be back and recommend to anyone.

We have been to Bristol many times but just ate here today for the first time at the reccomendation of another bar. The axe throwing / bar and eating area is hidden away – I had no idea it was there. If you want good food, friendly staff, very clean and nice restrooms, wide beer selection, this might need to be your new regular stop. Appears that management and staff really take pride in running this place. My only comment on the food would be to maybe offer extra sauce and/or spicy sauce options. We enjoyed the green beans, the baked potato, and the potato salad. Pot roast was like homemade. We definitely will be back. Axe throwing looked fun!

On a random road trip from NY and decided to stop in Bristol, VA for dinner. Found the Axe and Ale House and will tell you the food was amazing. Cuban sandwich, the smoked pork was phenomenal and I had the chicken nachos, with smoked and juicy chicken. The service was awesome and our bartender Dominick was attentive, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to chat with. Even the local regulars were a delight, place felt like home. Highly recommend! (Picture of nachos is after I ate about half, serving size was plentiful and flavor delicious!)

Showed up on a Sunday to meet up with some family. The entire time we were there the staff was friendly and accommodating. The food, however, was a major disappointment. I got a Hillbilly Dip Sandwich, which was a couple of scoops of cold, dry, shredded pot roast on a bun with provolone cheese, it was a $15 sandwich and it was a disappointment. We also ordered a $13 salad, $12 chicken and waffles, $15 meatloaf and $15 wings, and no one had anything positive to say about the food above “meh”. For the $ they are charging, I would expect something a step above Burger King, not below it. If management reads this, please do a Gordon Ramsey deep dive and get super critical of what your kitchen is turning out. Think of ways to make your food better and more appealing. I did have a minor issue with my meal and the manager came over to speak with me personally. He was very helpful, and he seemed like he truly cared about my issue. I have nothing but positive things to say about the servers and management, but I honestly think the food needs some work. It’s a fun place, but it could be so much better.

Cute building. Service could be a little bit more outgoing. We ordered buffalo chicken dip and two meatloaf dinners. Meatloaf was super dry like eating peanut butter and hard to swallow and the potato tasted strange. Which led us to believe they were frozen and thawed out. Definitely did not taste fresh. W tried to eat it. Green beans were good. Chicken dip was great though. Checks are given without itemizing what you got so you have to pay attention to that to calculate.

The axe-throwing was Great, nice customer service, if you plan to have a family gather or group activities It’s a great place for groups, and the staff made sure we knew all the safety and the best way to throw the Axes. it’s good place for food, drinks, and fun. I will definitely go back if I am in town. Also, they have Country band that play sometimes on the week, I don’t knoww their specific schedule.

Came to this restaurant yesterday for the 1st time thinking it would be a nice place to try. Boy were we wrong!! Arrived and got immediately seated. The gentlemen that was taking care of us was very nice. Got our drinks while we looked at the menu. I ordered the cheese quesadilla with sweet potato fries. My friend had the club sandwich with waffle fries. My quesadilla was severely overcooked to where the cheese was rubber(NO JOKE). I waited until someone came to check on us. A young male came over and I asked him “would you eat this?”. His reply was SHOCKING. He said ” I am not picky, I would eat just about anything, but I can remake it for you.” I said YES PLEASE. The fries were not the best but I could at least eat them. He came back shortly with the new one and it somewhat looked better looking at it on the outside. He said they use a toaster oven and they sometimes have problems.
I went to eat it and it was almost like the 1st one, but not as burnt. The cheese was not rubber but very close. I tried to eat some, just bairly getting 1.5 slices down and I couldn’t do anymore. My friends food he would never eat again. The waiter never asked how the food was again. When we got the bill there was no discount for my meal due to what happened or it even taken off. We left a tip but not a good one to show how unhappy we were with the service. We are NOT the ones to tip poorly. We always give very good tips but this didn’t warrant one. I was extremely disappointed because I wanted to come back to do Ax Throwing but they have totally lost my business. Please be aware before you go in what kind of food they are serving. It’s nasty. I had a very upset stomach and was very sick the next day. I am sure it’s from this place’s food.

10/10 recommend! When another local establishment double booked our room for a planned family Christmas gathering we were left to find a last minute place for 20+ guests to hang out, eat and exchange gifts. Axe and Ale House came to the rescue for us and made sure our family Christmas party was perfect! We had guests from multiple states (Oregon, New York, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia) We can’t say enough for the staff here. We did axe throwing there last night as a family band today they saved our Christmas! Food was great!!
