Awe’z Sandwich Shop, formerly Pro’s Sandwich Shop and once part of the Maid-Rite franchise, serves midwest diner-style food. Awez is a classic diner that is famous for their Beef Delight; a giant loose-meat sandwich served on a BallPark bun. (ask for everything on it to get mustard, pickle, and onion on top). We also hand-scoop our shakes and malts! Some of our customer favorites include our house-made root-beer, slow-cooked chili, fried cheese balls, and onion rings. We are a small diner that can serve up to 50 customers at a time. If you have a large party it is always recommended to call us and reserve a booth for your party. Awez is a family owned business and continues to be a large part of the Mason City area and community.

The beef delight with pickles, mustard, and ketchup was incredible. As soon as I heard that the root beer was homemade, ordering it was a must and it didn’t disappoint! If you like root beer, make sure you order it!

Loose meat sandwich was terrible. I’m from where the original Maid Rites are made, and whatever I ate was “Aweful” . The Root Beer was ok. Had a very Flat taste to it, the atmosphere was uncomfortable, I was given the “if your not a local or a regular then leave” vibe. Seemed like a judgemental place to eat by yourself if your not a certain age group or don’t dress properly. Will never return here, and will always be sure to not refer this diner.

I enjoyed a cheese delight and fries. I highly recommend the home made root beer. It has a rich vanilla flavor and tickled my taste buds. The classic checkered wrap was a nice nostalgic touch.

This adorable family-owned sandwich shop has been around since the 1960s. Super sweet lady made our sandwich, we got a beef delight loose meat sandwich with all of the fixings! They offer milkshakes that looked very tasty, I will be trying when I go back! If you’re in the mood for a sandwich or a malt I would suggest stopping in at Awe’s sandwich shop.

Stopped in here for lunch over the weekend while stopping up here in Mason City. Immediately when I walked in I could tell that the people running it care for it and the service they give.
All 3 of the people working were extremely nice and made me feel like a regular. The food was fantastic – I had a tenderloin, which was breaded right then and there. Prices were great too.
Great little hole in the wall for some really good food. If I lived here, I’d definitely stop in more often.

What a delicious old fashioned maidrite sandwich! Never had one with the hamburger cooked that way and it was fantastic! They give you a large amount of meat that will satisfy anyone! The waffle fries are homemade and go great with everything! The chili cheese dog was so yummy! Don’t forget to wash it down with a fresh root beer! My favorite restaurant in Mason and I love the old time cafe feel! Give it try! You’ll thank me!
